Ask the hotel staff, That Chineese place has been shut down 3 times in the last year for health code violations. I wouldnt eat there.

 

Really? Its been awhile since I was there. I never got sick but then again I have an iron gut.

Are you sure that it was the Chinese place and not the roach motel that was shut down???

I have stayed in several Americas Best out on the road and they have all been fairly nice and clean. I guess that one is just an exception.

 

I know it's sorta 'cliche', but Waffle House is always good; Olive Oil's Pizza over by Kroger's is fantastic, and they deliver; there's also a Chinese place that will deliver to the hotel & to the yard (I think it's called China Imperial), always good food and a reasonable price!

When hubby and I come to the yard we usually have work to be done on the truck so we go to America's Best. Since we run team, it's nice to stretch out and 'shut down' for a couple of days. We usually have food delivered and 'veg' for a day or two.

And as for the 'roach motel', I can direct you to some places that are 10X worse. We had to have our previous truck into KW for work a few times and stayed in some really sleazy places, the kind that you make sure all 6 locks on the door are locked and you don't open thre door after dark!!

 

That Americas Best is one of the worst hotels/motels Ive stayed at. Its a ######## and the staff are ########, especially the googly eyed guy.

If you can avoid staying there your doing yourself a favor. Super 8 on Military is far superior and if you do it right you can get Stevens to pay for it.

 

I never tried Olive Oil's.

Im sure that there is worse than Americas Best, but as we have already determined I am one of the Divas because I expect a clean room. AB rooms are NOT clean and I have a few videos to prove it. I felt safe there, but AB is the worst motel that I have ever stayed in as far as far as being dirty and not well maintained. During the summer I stayed on the west side looking at the pool. The A/C couldnt keep up and it wasnt just warm, but hot in the room. And no way I would get into that pool!

 

What's wrong with Baker's Ribs? I love that place lol.

Drove south on I90 / I25 from MT to NE for the first time yesterday. Holy cow what a nice ride! Beautiful scenery too. Casper WY was pretty amazing. Now I understand why TLea lives there.

 

Hello all. not trying to hijack the thread just wanted to say howdy. This thread seems to keep active on all things Stevens so I thought I'd stop by. I gave the general run down about myself over at the welcome wagon. I start training on 10/15. Nervous but still looking forward to it. Right now my hope is to get a good trainer for O1. Someone that can teach me the skills as well as the business so I can keep the wheels rolling to pay the bills. Anyway, look forward to meeting some of you. Oh yeah If you like affordable real Texmex food try the new Chile Verde. Near Oats and 635. A great dinner with a drink for 6-7 bucks. Hard to beat these days.

 

The only thing wrong with Baker Ribs is that I couldnt afford to eat there on Stevens salary. But then again I make the best rib and brisket!

 

Matty. U should probably have a sleep test done becore u come and gef cpap machine. It will cost u adound two grand!! But at least it wont delay ur training. Good luck.

 

Welcome 18 and best of luck in training. I deliver cars at the Mazda place at 635 and Oates so I will have to try that place some day. Just hope that its better than that Jalapeno Tree down around Gross Rd and 635.
