My first solo dispatch date was 10-27-11 so technically I can add another week onto that number too...

Gratz on your miles and year in btw.

But the real question is how much did you earn in one year. If u think about the time worked, stress, etc it doesn't come out to much. Atleast for me anyway.

Well I think for me it's going to be a little different than your situation, I think I would get around 230 to 250 a week because I would have to pay for hotel and bus ticket and don't forget the taxes and other stuffs. Which I don't mind, because I will go there with the mentality that I will be on training, after training and become a solo driver it will be a different ball game, my plan is not to take the 70 a week allowance, if I can I will stick with tuna fish sandwiches For a while I guess that if I want to become a good and safe truck driver I have to sacrifice a lot of stuffs, thank God that my wife works for the UN here in NY and she is making good money, so we will not be so tight money wise (I hope) well I wish the best and hope I will see you some day on the road, be safe and keep me posted

I would suggest to take the $70, they just tack it onto your loan w/ hotel, tuition, and the other various stuff. If you do the math it's about 1.35 per week which they are already deducting anyways.

Just food for thought, no pun intended.

Read this on another thread and thought I would pass it along. I can't believe the others stood by and did nothing. I know CPR and I'll be d****d if I let the manager keep me from helping!!

Oddly enough, I haven't seen anything in the news online about this, but I heard on The Road Dog Trucking Radio recently that a trucker suffered a heart attack at the Petro in North Little Rock, AR. There were other drivers there who are trained in CPR, one in particular is a volunteer EMT First Responder when he's off the truck. There was a defibrillator on the wall, but the manager refused to allow anybody to help out of fear of getting sued. This manager also admitted that he doesn't know how to use the defibrillator. It took the local EMT's 10 minutes to get there. By then, it was too late. The man later stopped breathing and died. Now, there's a possible law suit on the way against the manager for preventing the man's life from possibly being saved. I have to say, I'm saddened and disappointed by this. After hearing this, I will NEVER stop at that Petro again. If my company asks me to get fuel there, I'll just simply ask for another fuel stop, out of principal.

The reason I mention this is because I'm wondering if anybody else has heard about this and knows what's being done about it. I would be interested to know if the manager got fired, the Petro sued, etc.

We are sitting in Springfield, MO. Loaded out of Dallas late yesterday, busted our rears to get to Salem, MO for 0630 delivery, took the full 2hrs to unload. 2nd drop 130mi away at Springfield, scheduled for 0900. Makes you wonder how often they drug test the CSRs, LOL. Made it to 2nd drop by 1130, and now, here we sit!!
