Exactly! My first trainer had me floating before I got out of the gate. Double clutch is taught ONLY to pass the driving exam. Heck, EVERYTHING they do at the school is JUST to pass your driving exam and get your CDL...

We must have delivered somewhere else then, it's been about a year and a half. I know that it was 20+ miles and multiple zip codes.

I would bet close to 50% of repowers don't come off. That's because there are a couple persons that set them up and never talk to the driver.
All a driver sees is a message to repower. They don't know if the new load is crappy or reasonable. You don't know if you'll be sitting on a 50 mile load for two days or if it's a runner.
So there are a lot of drivers that refuse to complete them and there is no repercussion to it.
Personally, I think company drivers should be forced dispatched and force repowered. There should be penalties for refusing loads. And it isn't just repowers. Last night I had two loads that the driver never picked up. When called, both drivers said, "I don't like those loads. No one asked me."
Now if you're Alliance or O/O, you pay for the priviledge to pick and choose.
More communication from the repower teams could eliminate many of these blown repowers.

So what's in it for the company man if he "takes one for Team Stevens"? Company drivers should be on a guaranteed salary IF dispatch is able to jam it to them.

Agreed... unless the intention is to go to a complete lease fleet, sticking a company driver with a repower that he is going to sit on for a day or two and make crap, so another driver can keep rolling will surely drive the company side to another carrier.

Personally I have only been involved in one repower since going solo... I pick up my loads and deliver them on time. The one repower I was involved.in was because I was going to be an hour late because I spent 4 hrs in a KW dealership getting a new alternator put on... had a load going tco the same general area though, so I lost a day, but not any miles.

Of course the only time I am asked it seems is when I am on home time.

I have never refused a load either... and they keep me running so no complaints.

I do tons of repowers lol., They call my DM the repower king :p
I love it. I would rather deal with a driver at a truck stop that a receiver and a shipper.

I send messages to repower to "Help Out". I haven't got one yet. Unless someone screwed up and they need a driver close in the area. Ive been that guy a couple of times.

Say your getting low on hours and you keep getting loads with hardly any miles. How do you reset? And who makes that decision, you or the DM? Just curious.
