Sometimes Stevens can be a frustrating place. Today I was scheduled to go on home time after I delivered my load in the morning. I make my delivery. I am told to take the empty trailer to a local shipper and drop it off. After that I am to take the truck to a Kenworth dealership an hour away and leave the truck there. Being that today is a Saturday I ask my dispatcher if the KW dealer is open due to it being a weekend. "Oh yes it is open" he says. I get there and the place is locked up tight. An hour wasted. I call back and I am told to take the truck to a truck storage place a few miles away but I will have to come back and get it on Monday and take it to the dealership because the storage place charges $25.00 a day.

I drive to the truck storage lot. It is not a lot but a small truckstop complete with a fuel aisle and eatery. They charge for parking. There is a fence in along the front of the property but nothing surrounding the place and no gate. It is completely devoid on anything resembling any kind of security. Anyone could drive in there at any time. I tell Stevens this. A few minutes later I am called back and asked if I could "help them out".

There is a loaded trailer at a Peterbilt dealership and all I have to do is go pick it up and take it back to the truck stop where I started this morning. It will be repowered in the morning. So here I sit babysitting a trailer after a day of running around.

Once I am repowered in the morning I will drop the trailer at Tropicana and take the truck to another drop yard. The person who is going to take this trailer has a meat load. That will probably mean the truck needs a washout before going to tropicana. That means I will probably have to wait to Monday to start my time off because there are no truck washes in the area that are open on Sunday........

That's why I run dry van, I don't have to sleep with a noisy reefer penetrating the back wall of my sleeper. don't have to get trailer washouts, don't have to do pallet exchanges, don't have to go to grocery warehouses and cold storage facilities, don't have to be responsible if the reefer takes a crap, don't have to pull 44,000+ loads every trip, and best of all I don't have to babysit a reefer all weekend long. You guys don't get paid any extra to put up with all that crap, one day you guys will get it, one day!

SIGH Stung by the National Beef. Got QC in North Platte after dropping at WalMart DC to head to Dodge City Nat Beef for load to CT and Bronx....Hunts Point...oh joy. DLD is 14:00 today. I figure with that close a DLD it should be about ready when I get here. 10:00 I pull in and they're like "oh, maybe about midnight" SIGH Ten hours down? GRRRR!!! Doing the numbers and if out of here at midnight, won't be able to make dlvry on time, or even on day. So, on comment line for QC #3 said it will need team repower ASAFP. Sitting here with three other Stevens rigs, all asleep. Will probably head to FlyJ. Hope you all r doing well, or at least better, lol. Keep the shiny side up and out of the meat patch! Man am I glad I didn't push through that wind and lightning storm on 283 last night to get here at 22:00 last night!!!

Good strategery. Request your repower at perrysburg oh, I80 exit 77. Then you can get a campbells soup load, or pick up a load from canada from one of the dedicated fleet that runs in and out.

when national beef blows the DLD, they will reschedule the delivery. And they blew it big time on your load.

Good strategy to let them know, and let them know often.

    Now that totally sucks....

Home time has been an adventure for you each time.

Sometimes the best answer to "can you help us" is NO.

Today, I was finally able to make it to my hometime with no real bumps in the road. The repower happened a few hours later than I would have liked, however, that was caused by the other driver's receiver. Once the swap was complete I was on my way to Bradenton. I bobtailed back to tampa to a storage yard and now I am at home and on time off. That means I can finally enjoy me a few adult beverages :biggrin_25522:.

How old does a beverage have to be before its adult? lol OK, so anyway I got repowered on I70 in London OH. The load is still too close to dlvry date and too far away for my hours to make. Getting repowered again in morning, no idea on dlvry time or place. Feeling all mushroomy again lol. Why my DM is so against a reset I just don't understand. I'm counting this as one though. Got here 8am and done with swap by 9. Don't get any hours until 0:00 Thurs morn, so yeah, reset. Another round of vicious lightning storms last night. Geeze. Pretty though.
