No matter where you go there WILL ALWAYS be issues and things people don't like about a company.

An old old friend of mine who has been driving for about 25 years put it like this...

Truck companies are like women, what you find attractive about one someone else is going to be repulsed by. Some look better than others, but they all have flaws.

Wow... what is up.with the repowers? I came off hometime a night early, to run a load down to Landover for a guy out of hours... Deadhead 150 miles... loaded 104... took my entire 14 hr clock... ok took one for the team, qlwe all have to from time to time... waiting for my break to be up, no load assignment, get call, will you delivered another load for a driver out of hours... OK, 15 miles deadhead... 158 loaded... OK, but I need a load out after this, 400 miles in three days is not going to cut it. No Problem, I get to final, check in, call dispatch and am assured there will be a load when i am empty, we are overbooked in this area... sitting and waiting to be unloaded I get another call... Can you help us out with another repower... another 150 miles give or take... Hell no... but will pay you a repower stipend... me- if that stipend is less than $500.00 I am not interested..

    TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.

Pick up a load from another driver... most often needed because the first driver is unable to make an on time delivery.

You meet another driver and swap trailers so you can complete his load. Sometimes you will be giving him your empty trailer or you might give him your loaded trailer that he will then deliver as it probably has more time to get there. Sometimes agreeing to help out with a repower works well as you didn't have to waste time at the shipper to get the load but they can also suck if the dispatcher is less than honest about the miles and time left on the load.
If you have a load that has too much time on it, eg, 900 miles and 5 days to get there then you can ask to be repowered just to get a better load instead of sitting around too much. Unless you can't make delivery on time repowers are difficult to get.

I am beginning to think it would be beneficial if Stevens required planners or CSR or whoever actually puts these loads together to come out here on the road for a week or two... three stops today, Carteret NJ, Philly and Gordonsville VA... getting to each stop should not be a problem, however the last one is a Walmart and my clock should just about be running out while I am sitting there. When I pointed this out, the response was... we'll repower you... right, we'll see...
