You will owe them the money, but yes, you can work elsewhere. I said earlier that I was setup to go to Schneider after 8 months with Stevens. As I was leaving the house to take my drug screen/physical for Schneider, I got a phone call from a place that I have been wanting to go to for a couple of years and I love working here. So yes, I was able to leave Stevens early and get a great job. Actually I had 3 or 4 job offers at that time.

My friends husband does the intermodal for Schneider here in Ft. Worth and he really likes it.

Not sure who told you that they pick & choose who they want to pass, but that is false!! The only people from my class that didn't make it thru were those that eliminated themselves, either thru failed drug test, failed background check, failed physical, or simply a 'don't care attitude' (late to class, sleeping during class, cell phone use during class, etc). The instructors went out of their way to help everyone in any way possible to aid in passing, particularly when there were particular skills that needed extra work.

    Best of luck.

nascarchuck, KMac and Dryver Thank this.

Gonna have to agree although the instructor that we had was a jerk. The others seemed to be good though.

    TRKRSHONEY and KMac Thank this.

I don't believe all the negitive things anyways. 99% negitives are from the people that didn't care and they failed! I heard all good things about Stevens training.

    TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.

Saw a Stevens truck getting towed off of Cabbage tonight, going east. #12073 I believe. What was he doing there when chains were required? Oh, and by the way Emul, I had to throw chains myself, like you said I would. (No penguin on the side of our trailers though).

The whole PNW (as well as WY,AZ and NM) were total weather disasters this weekend. And the weather was pretty spotty. Chain law up, chain law down, chain law up...
Now couple the worst weather of the season (so far) with this great phone system and I wished I had my buddy Johnny Walker with me today!
I don't think the backup on the phones was less than 90 minutes from 8am until 8pm when it finally started dying down.
When I left tonight, we had 16 weather related 'critical' repowers still not done. Not bad dispatches...those (like the poor) will always be with us. But trucks delayed by closed highways, high winds and freezing fog. It's been quite a while since I remember I-40, I-70 and I-80 being closed at the same time across Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico.
The fact that we had the least amount of accidents for a weekend (and NO serious ones) this entire year, testifies to the good driving skills and techniques practiced by Stevens drivers. They knew when to park it!
Tonight, just before I left, they asked us what improvements we'd make to the phone system. I think they were seriously interested.
So we offered some suggestions. Hopefully the powers that be will listen.
    For all of our sakes.
Another week like today and I'm liable to go find a truck again...or retire.
I apologize to all you drivers out there that have had to put up with this CF. Those of us inside are truely frustrated that we can't get our job done. Our job is to help the drivers, and I can tell you that the worthless night and weekend crew (anyone with a 2600 or 2700 extension) have really been frustrated at not being able to meet the minimum driver needs. Thanks for your patience.
Think I'll go spend some time with my buddy, Johnny.

Hey golfnut. Next time you lay down under those drives, trying to fasten that link on the chains between the duals...you'll remember why I said, "If I never throw another set of chains, it will be too soon!"
    Stay well!

    TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.
