I didn't say it wasn't the truth. I said skewed. Not really sure how you can pull 30-40K out of you bum for an answer. Just because you're not a go getter doesn't mean everyone else isn't. How many drivers have you interviewed to come up with this mythical #?

I wouldn't get out of bed for 30-40K a year lol. And as far as my experience has been, I am more in the 60-80K per year range. But again, that is my personal experience and is a bit skewed as well.

Everyone's outlook is skewed by their own experience. How could it not be?

That said, other than a gross amount, I would like to meet the driver are Stevens making $100k

A very good friend, an old Army buddy, is an O/O leased to a different carrier, his truck is paid for, no note. He also is paid on percentage as opposed to miles. He grossed $215k last year. He netted $60k. Yes I did see his tax returns and expenses. His fuel alone was over $110k

Nascar is pretty well on the mark...

    Lets look at the math...

5 weeks with a trainer, 3 weeks dumb and dumber, another week between OR I and OR II... lets call it 9 weeks at the training wage of $350 per week so 9 x $350 = $3150

Next up is the move to Grad Fleet, $.26 per mile, this is the until the 6 month mark, so six months is 26 weeks, we have already accounted for the first nine, so lets call 17;weeks and lets say the driver is a real go getter ajd averages 3000? miles a week... that is 51,000 miles at $.26 per for a total of $13260

Then of course there is a raise to $.28 for the next quarter, another 13 weeks of 3000 per gives us a total of 39000 miles at $.28 for a total of $10900

The last quarter of that firs year is paid at.$.29 per, so another 39000 miles @ .29 gives us $11310 for theblastbquarter.

So in total, a driver who has no hold ups whatsoever, tales no time off and averages 3000 miles a week on the company side would earn $38,610

That, as we all know is not a realistic scenario. So Nascar was in the right ballpark.

Alliance will give you a much higher gross, but you then pay all your costs out of pocket.

I'll have a better idea next year. But I haven't seen a check less than 800 since joining Alliance.... Of course I wasn't staying on the company side either. Those checks were pathetic with all the deductions and what not. Yes the deductions are still there but if you have a good sense on how to calculate your fuel and when to turn your trips in, then it works out for the better. I actually had the benefit in drawing unemployment while on the company side to compensate for how small the checks were.

Well keep an open mind, because to net that $60,000 you are going to need to average about $1150 a week tske home and that is with no time off.

It's a marathon, not a sprint, do the right things the right way and the money will come

Nope, that's a bit out of route. I'm in North Stovington just 62 miles from my final in Assonet, MA.

OK was just wondering. I delivered to Taunton from Ottawa a few weeks back. Worked out great for me, my brother lives less than two miles from the drop.

The 30-40,000 was what Ralph said about 2 pages ago, so I didn't just pull that number out of my butt.

I would think that it may be possible to make that figure, but not likely.

I ran every run that was given to me at Stevens. I never once turned down a load. Maybe i could had done a few things differently but thats in the learning curve.

I'm currently in the same pay range as you claim. I normally run my 70 in 5-5.5 days. According to my review I am a top producer with my numbers of cars moved, miles driven, etc all well above average.

So, just how do you base your claim that I am not a go getter?

As for interviewing drivers, I have spoken to most of the guys that graduated with me at Stevens. Only one said that he was able to make a living but I didn't ask how much he was making.

Glad to hear things have been going so well so far, just don't expect it to stay at that pace!! Hubby completed one lease solo and we have just completed a team lease. We definitely have the experience to say that you WILL have slow weeks!! There will come a week when you get caught in a 'meat patch shuffle' (Hubby had 3 meat patch loads one week, each was 600 miles or less, shuttling from one Tyson plant to another) or the 'California shuffle' (you don't have enough hours to actually run the load so they use you as a shuttle driverto do the pick-ups then pass the loads to trainers).

Overall, we did okay on both leases, but it could definately have been better! After all, you have only been on Alliance for about 6 weeks, we are just now getting into the 'lean' weeks when loads are going to be hard to come by and weather is going to start affecting the roads. Nascarchuck DOES know what he's talking about, as do the other 'regulars'!! As KMac said, 'It's a marathon, not a sprint!' If the miles were consistently great, I wouldn't be the only one left out of my class & my hubby wouldn't be the only one left out of his O1 group of 60+ drivers!!

Oh, and BTW, take 25% out of that $800 per week for taxes leaves $600. $600 x 52wks = $31,200 per year with no time off!! Even your $800 per week means that you are 'getting out of bed' for just over $40,000 a year!!

I have not seen a check under 1000 after all my expenses for the past 3 weeks, everyone moans about freight being slow but lemme tell ya if you run smart and watch those MPGs you can get these kind of checks too even with slow freight. I am running about an 8.2 with a T700 and average nothing under 74K gross on my scale tickets and yes I run the hills and mountains too. I am an alliance driver and was very skeptical at signing on but I did the math crunched many numbers and scenarios and I put it out there. My last check I only scanned 2400 miles but with the high MPG average you can see how it pays out. Watch your deadhead percentage, run hard and smart when you can and dont be afraid to take those loads they ask you to repower if it makes sense. Think on your feet crunch the numbers and your yes or no comes from there. Most of these dispatchers will remember that you did em a favor and when you need one in return (not every time) they will try n help you out. Now if only they would fix the $%%##^&&**^%% phone system that was supposed to improve things, really sux cuz i lost all my contact extensions for when im in a jam lol.
