Man, I feel for you 3200 miles in two weeks is completely unacceptable. A person can make what 1600 miles/week pays by working for minimum wage at Burger King. I am now going on my 4th week with Alliance. The first 2 weeks were great, scanned 3084 miles for my Free week(the trick is DO NOT leave the yard until Tuesday, so you actually get a free week and not just 1-3 days) and 3280 for my second week. 3rd week stunk, just 2200 miles, which will barely get me a paycheck after all my overhead. This week started out crappy as well. Was dispatched to pick up at Taylor Farms in Dallas for a 2300 p/u appt., and a 0415 delivery appointment at Wally World in Pauls Valley, OK. Get to Taylor Farms (man, what a cluster that place is) at 2200, check in, and then wait almost 2 hours to get in a dock. Finally, at 00:00, I get docked. At 0200, they tell me my bills are ready. Now I'm no Einstein, but I do realize that I have about 150 miles to Pauls Valley for a 0415 appt., and with my 62MPH truck, I'm going to be late. Well, when I go in to sign the bills, I notice that next to 'driver signature' there is a 'Time Out' space that reads 00:00. Hmmmmmm.... so I cross out the 00:00, and write 0200 next to it. The shipping clerk sees me do this, and says in a reassuring(yet with a trace of panic) voice "oh, don't worry about the time there". I looked at him and said, "Yeah, I am going to worry about it, I told you guys three times tonight that I needed to be out of here by minimum 0100, and now it's 0200 and I'm going to be late, so I am going to note that it's 0200 when I get these bills". He fell silent after that. Well, at 0415, when I was still 50 miles from Pauls Valley, I get a surprising phone call from Taylor Farms' dispatch. I tell him I'm still an hour away, and he says "ok I'll call them".I get to Wal Mart at 0515, and luckily still get a door. However, since the load was late, I don't get empty until 1430. What a cluster for 180 miles total. You think Taylor Farms was trying to sneak one by me??

Yep they sure were. It is always the truck drivers fault, even when the shipper delays loading for hours, or even a day.

Had a disagreement with dispatch today. I was 602 miles from the receiver, for an 0700 appointment Friday. Yes I could make the delivery by driving all night, spending 10.25 hours driving, .5 for potty breaks, food, .25 fueling, leaving 3 hours to check in, get unloaded, check out, and drive to the closest safe haven, 35 miles away.

And this is to a union warehouse, where we do not pay the extortion fee. Anyone else see the problem? Dispatch sure couldn't. I had to keep asking them what do they not understand about the 14 hour rule. I can not leave the property after my 14 is up, and they do not allow anyone to stay their. They won't even let you in early. No staging either.

Finally was repowered after the third repower request and phone call. I will not be put into a situation where I am being forced to violate the law, when it can be avoided with just a little planning and forethought.

I left California this morning..........only to be sucked right back in!!! I left Ripon and made my way to Sacramento to I-80. This was my first time on this part of I-80 and I must admit the drive up Donner Pass is a very scenic one. I really enjoyed it.

Once I clear Donner and enter Nevada the QC beeps. Repower in Winnemucca. I sent a message back telling them I understand being repowered, but please don't send me back to California. Please.

No such luck. I meet the driver and his trainee and discover what they giving me is a load of meat delivering tommorow south of Sacramento. Back to produce land I go.

Hi all. Stuck in the meat patch. This time IBP/Tyson Amarillo. Going onto 24 hours now. DLD is six hours away, load goes to the Bronx down at Hunts Point so you can be sure I'll be screaming repower on this one. I don't mind going down to the point all that much, just no way I can make it on time when load is ready far too late. This will be the third time I've had a Amarillo to Hunt's point load, and the third time its been ready too late to make it. When I called just a bit ago the trailer was assigned, but it wasn't being filled yet. Getting tired of good runs being ruined by bad shippers.

Got stuck at Target today, from appointment time to out the gate, 9.25 hours. then got sent a load from tyson, waterloo, DLD sunday 3am....great, go and drop my trailer and hang out for a day...pull into tyson, and vola, load is ready, grab it and run down to Iowas 80 and catch the tail end of the truck jamboree.

not many miles today, but 7 hours detention pay.

My frustrations continue to grow. After I made my delivery I was given a load assignment that did not pick up until 1700 the following day. This means another 24 plus hours of sitting and not getting any miles. I arrived at the shipper this morning and was told that the load was going to be late. They said the product was still in the field and had to be processed. I check back in with the shipper at 1830 and I am told that the product is in the cooler. They are just waiting for it to get to the right temperature before it can be loaded. This delay is significant because it is going to make me late for my delivery on the 13th. I will run this as much as I can and as far as I can out of California before I do the repower request and the running late message.

I am sitting in Barstow tonight with a load that delivers in Oakland on Tuesday at 1300. Either we have WAY too much time or not enough!

I hear ya!! This week has put me on loads with either too little time, which I was repowered off of, or on loads with too much time where I have to sit for days at a time.

    Hey wannabe,
that seems a little wierd to me. I drove for central ref and I had a juvenile record that they knew about. Mine was assaulting a cop wen i was 16 and im 24 now. I passed my training... but to your question... no you do NOT have to disclose our juvenile record to them... I did because I know someone that works for them and he told them,, plus i wanted to make sure they wouldn try and send me into canada...

    but hey stevens guys!!:biggrin_255:
I will be headed to Dallas in august... Im very glad I found a "normal" post section with stevens.. I was gettn tired of all the "newbee" truckers making complaints...lol Im glad to hear normal talk going on here. I cant wait... I do have a question though.. since I already have my valid class A CDL from california,,, do I still have to switch it to texas license?

    Thanks guys... drive safe!
