If you pass a level one, be sure and go to the driver's window, bring your paperwork.
You'll be given a EXPEDITE sticker for your windshield, plus a safe drivers patch for your shirt, as well as a laminated card with your picture on it.
When you check in when coming on the yard, your truck is automatically put on the expedite list, where you'll see it finished before you can clear your office stuff. Normally within 12 hours of hitting the yard.
Your card will get you a pass in comliance (unless there's a serious class 3 violation), gives you a pass from meeting with Harold and one free lunch ticket from the roach coach.
You are handled separately from all the other drivers at the clearance window (your DM escorts you in and past everyone else) and you recieve priority dispatch off the yard. No Campbells Soup loads. Normally loads of 1,000 miles minimum.

OK, now you guys have read all this and said, WHAT!!!
    Yea, I'm yanking your chain.
Passing a level one is like wetting yourself in a pair of dark pants. No one notices, but you get a warm feeling.
Geez I'm bad whenI have extra time! :biggrin_2559:

Hi all. I am a newb. My husband and I just finnished OR1 and we meet our trainers today. I have been hanging out reading here for months but decided to post. I am a little nervous about being with a trainer but know it is what I need. Emulsified, I wanted to try to introduce myself while I was on the yard but I was so busy. If anyone has any advice for my next 5 weeks please let me know. Thanks eveyone for creating this awesome place.

Take a deep breath, don't take things personally, apply yourself, concentrate each day on improving at least one particular skill (speed control, turns, etc). Don't be afraid to ask questions, pay attention to what your trainer is doing and ask why if you don't understand.
Oh, yea...every chance you get..practice backing!

    TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.

Great advice. Thanks. I am going to be on a dedicated run for a few weeks so at least I can get some knowledge of how that works also.

Back every chance you get... it helps...
and you will have to change trainers, since you are on a dedicated run. that is the only way you will get all your regions, and mountains.

    TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.

Yep, I have to be back in the yard in two weeks for a new trainer. I actually enjoy backing so that going to be good to get lots more in. Thanks

Thats what I called her yesterday. I had to call in for grad review and she said let's check your breaks. They look good. OK what is the last tab for. Lets check. They look good. What about fuel. They look good too. I don't know what to do with myself. Sounded just like my mother talking to me. LOl

I got paid $25.00 to actually deliver my load in Laredo instead of dropping it on the yard. One drop, what could be simpler, right?

Well, lets see, wrong consignee on q/c, actual one is in other side of building. excuse me truck behind me, I need to back out of this driveway, thank you for moving.

Pull around to other side and go to check in. Wrong facility, you need to go over to the other place at this address.

Ok, less than 2 miles away, no problem, finally got this sorted out, it's probably a drop anyway.

Arrive and I am told, park over there and we'll let you know when we have a door, we're not sure if this trailer is going into Mexico or not. Turns out they have to unload it, inspect it then reload it and then I'll drop it. Right, except the shipper put the wrong labels on.

CSR is at lunch. Go to US Cold Storage and they will re-label it, then we'll figure out what we are going to do from there.

USCS has me sit for an hour or so then tells me we only handle frozen product here.

CSR calls me, We ave a place to take it. They are a produce company, they will unload you and hold the product over the weekend.

I get back to the drop yard at 16:45. I left at 08:00. I don't want to figure out what that is by the hour. Now I have a Canada load, but I'm taking it to the yard in Dallas so I can visit the clinic again. I am seriously considering switching back to company as I've already had one negative week and this is going to create another as there is no way I'm getting off the yard before Tuesday and I'll have a whopping 1800 miles to scan in. Sigh.
