Well I made it back from my foray into the netherlands. I gotta say, it was a pleasure jambing gears again. The truck did 2700+ miles in two and a half days.
    Gads I miss the road!
Back at my desk in the morning.

I would call the head of Alliance and ask them to explain how this is supposed to work again? Follow the squeaky wheel theory. Be a very loud angry wheel.

Stay on your managers behind about keeping you moving.Run your loads ahead and get to know the people in dispatch for each area of the country.Run ahead and shutdown in areas of major freight movement.Intersections of major interstates, not state highways or U.S. highways.Be reliable and like they said call the alliance coordinator and do some major complaining,I use to call Bonnie perxonally. Now when you do that and they hook you up,you have to deliver.I.E.run ahead and on time.Get with CSR'S when running ahead and move up delivert schedules or better yet call the receiver yourself for early delivery,or show up early and play dumb.Manage your time to have time to run after delivery if possible.I know sometimes thats not possible, but be efficeint with your time.1800 miles as a Alliance driver is not acceptable, make sure they know that.I could go on and on.Make sure you do your check calls every day on time, etc etc etc. When you pick up a load with to much time, start with your manager immediately about making something happen.Rescheduling, repower, whatever it takes. That is is job.

Just thought I would check in on you guys and see how you all were doing.I currently have a team route that runs twice a week to Midland/Odessa,once to Hobbs,New Mexico, and another route to Carlsbad and Artesia New Mexico. We run total for the week 3200 miles, and make 11 calls over four days.A total of 70 hrs a week away from home and the rest of the time at home.Do the math,I work less than 35 hrs a week and make over 60k a year.We are given 25 dollars per person per route for food and can still claim per diem on our taxes. Its a gravy gig and Im very lucky to have this job.Having said that we are hiring and need drivers like crazy. After another 6 mths I will actually be off more days than I work. After one year you get 13 days of PTO AND TWO WEEKS VACATION.Thats on top of being off three days a week.No Im not a recruiter, lol.Hope everyone is doing well, hang in there Tlea.

Well took a 34 at the house since this week was shot thanks to a late dispatch and a not so pleasant shipping clerk, so 1300 miles for this week to scan, scanned 1800 last week and came out a whole whoppin 44 dollars ahead. Now the debate of should I just head to garden city when I drop and hook this evening or wait for the gurus in dallas to dispatch me when they get around to it to send me to garden city lmao. This weeks recap

34 hour reset and 15 hours after my reset was complete I finally got dispatched at 0930 for an 1130 pick up in paw paw MI. Tanks were bone dry so had to fuel up and run the 130 miles. Got there at 1146 and the shipper buirned me for 9 hours because I was late. OK fine, so i run a split and get myself below 600 to run the next day. Run 587 with no break to the Service plaza in topeka KS to take my 10. During my 10 I had my tanks siphoned at least the SOB that siphoned my tanks left me just enough to get the 40 miles to a place to fuel since we all know Service plazas are not in network. Dunno how you can only have 8 skids to offload and still they take longer than if you had 26 lmao. Anyway haul arsch to pueblo another 9 hour run with no break pulled in with 20 mins on my 14 for the day. So since week was awash anyway and I counted 19 stevens trucks deadheading east out of pueblo and lamar on 50 figured hell may as well get another reset in. Sighs the joys of leasing.

Just a quick observation on professionalism when answering a phone. Used to be that when people answered a phone at a business they would identify who they were upon answering the phone, Dispatch this is so and so. I find 75 percent of the time I have to ask who I am speaking to, OK no big thing for me to have to do that, but what I am noticing is that people seem to be reluctant to say who they are or will say it in a manner that is not clear or in a tone that is barely audible. Also something I have noticed is once you ask who am I speaking with which I do right off the bat their tone seems to change to a defensive tone. I am not on the attack when I call, I just like to know who I am speaking with. I know its a minor issue, but it is frustrating at times to go through it all, I would rather say Hi so and so this is so and so on truck #####. It helps the process of communication.
