Sigh....I beg your pardon Sir, but where in my comment did you read that I do not have my permit? As a matter of fact I've gotten my permit twice now. The first was when I attended a poorly run CDL school (see bio) and the second is recently for the current situation that I mentioned and my going to a sponsored school at end of month, to which I simply walked in DMV and took all 3 exams without studying. I will provide photos if needed as VA does not confiscate expired permits.

I was TOLD of the Washington State regs by the west coast knight recruiter. They don't even accept students from the state as my plan was to move to WA first then go to a sponsored school to which I'm TOLD I cannot do with knight. Swift recruiter told me I could go to the Idaho school if I were a WA resident. Now here's the kicker. My GF has told me that I cannot be a resident of the state until I'm there for a year! BOOM!!!!! Now do you see my delima??? I never said I didn't have my permit. And I'm highly sure that I COULD walk into any states DMV and pass the test because once you know it, you know it! It isn't rocket science. Which is why I considered just going with Swift here in the State of VA and switch terminals once I'm on. And like I said, Swift has a very good program for me but Knight has the best for me now. And if you've ever been to Richmond you know it's a dump.....not really, but it has it's challenges.

And since I've divulged more personal info than I cared to, I may as well finish now. The GF is PO'd that I will start training before I get there. She's a physical education Teacher and spring break is starting at EOM for her. So I was supposed to be there for the start of it which ain't gonna happen now because I'm gonna to training....(somewhere). She'll get over it!

I didn't see him say anything about a permit, he said CDL. Getting your license as opposed to a learners permit requires passing the driving and any other hands on tests as well as the written ones. I'd check with the WA DOT as to residency requirements. The GF may be mis-informed, or it could be as simple as "telling" them you have lived there for a year.

Thanks, and I did ask if she was sure about the residence requirement and of course I got the typical spouse reply so I went with it. Think I'll double check myself.

And my issue was never about obtaining THE CDL!! It was about attending a company sponsored school (one in particular) from the state of WA thats why I totally didnt comment on the CDL issue! Knight says they dont offer the program to WA residents, why I dont know or care. Call Jordan @ Knight and she'll explain that is as I dont make rules I follow them. He said I kept saying "Funky" and I only said it once and i was quoting the Knight recruiter at that!

I just wish people would offer legitimate help and advice, and keep their snyde comments to themselves.

Ok Inspector Gadget, here's where and what you FAILED to scour through! Washington's revised CDL laws 46.25. I hope you didn't spend a lot of time scouring because I found it in a matter of seconds! I'm sure that you, Penny and Brain can scour through each article of 46.25 because I'm told it's in there but it's not that important to me as it obviously is to you. I'm sure you will find it in no time! Enjoy :)

I just checked the WA State licensing site and the requirements only state that you need a WA license, which you can transfer your current license to WA, then once you get the hard copy you can then go in and get your permit. I don't see a length of residency requirement, but it may not be on the site. I would take the time to make a phone call to check. It may simplify things for you. I tried that law office site you posted but couldn't see anything there about residency requirements either, granted I didn't spend a lot of time looking.

Thanks again but at this point it's all moot to me. I have to get my CDL before I arrive.

And the GF was misinformed, I DO NOT have to wait a year to be a resident. Either swap my license over or register to vote is all it takes, with an address of course. I believe she was talking about students attending college that want in state rates.
