stevens has a drop yard in Denver, hauls a lot of frieght into denver, and then usually out to the meat patch for a load...the meat patch is kansas and nebraska...
If you can go to school on your own, but I do know that stevens works with a school in the denver area also, so check that out also...
Stevens is what you make of it...it is more about your attitude, and williness to take care of business, and get the load delivered safely and on time. Stevens being a training company has a lot of rules and policies, that at times makes a person feel like you are in kindergarten, which in a way a new truck driver is. this is a life style and job, that has great times and bad times.
As far as my personal experience with stevens, I have been with them for 9 months, have never set for more than 24 hours unless i requested it, have not set at the meat patch for more than 20 hours. I deliver into new york city, new jersey, and philly just about weekly, then back to texas, denver, or new mexico, then back to the east coast. all good for me.
And I live in Wyoming, so i get home by delivering to cheyenne, wy.

Thanks to TLeaHeart and JARHEADDRIVER-
Appriciate the responses. I am still trying to figure out what I want to do. I am considering going to United States Truck Driving school locally and then going on to a company. My issue however, is getting a grant or loan for the schooling up front. I am not employed at all at this time so it would be hard to get a loan at all. Any suggestions on this? Thanks again! -

..i see STEVENS pulled the toll free # for recruiter's off their website, either it's a cost cutting move or they don't need them any more or both.. i would imagine they are getting swamped with apps for 'no money down' free training due to the layoff situation right now & don't need recruiters..

rehires and experienced drivers. So I'm afraid Roadmasters students need to look elsewhere for the time being.
Now a little update on my situation as I've promised way ago.
So I went through all the hoops and finaly got my truck. So far I can complain only about low mileage pay but on the other hand I'm running constantly. I unloaded this morning # 7.00 and 5 mins after I sent my message "empty at final", they sent me another load. I deadheaded 150miles and after I pick up my load, I'll run with it another 1500.
I say It don't matter if someone pas you $1.00 a mile if you don't have miles. -
I will second what stanko said, stevens is NOT hiring at this time. They have also extended the training period for the students from their own school, and are terminating drivers for violations of company policy.
Now I continue to get miles, I set less than a day between loads, usually only a few hours, and then I am off driving again. I have 6300 miles paid so far in january. No slow frieght for meDrive-a-Mack Thanks this. -
Stevens is a great company

Stevens was hiring drivers from USTDS ...United States Truck Driving Schools in Wheatidgev ,Co back in 2005 . If you get your CDL from reputable school then most companies will hire you ,and put you out with a trainer for a few weeks b4 giving you your own truck . Why are you looking so hard into Stevens the CPM is as bad Werners ,so you would need 3k mles just to earn $750 wk ...Hey if you get mostly 750-1000 mile runs and 3k miles a week gr8t ,but I doubt Stevens solo drivers are any different than other carriers ,so 1800-2500 is more realistic ,but I could be wrong .
