They average 25-30 new trucks a month on a contract from Kenworth. The pay is as stated above. They are working in trucks with APU's but dont expect one for at least your first 4-6months. As soon as I went Alliance I had an APU truck and its worth it. More to come later.

Mo
wow 30 years ago, I bet you cant wait to be in a truck with 4-500 hp, hahaha.
Anyway I'm thinking most companies are going to want you to go through the whole training / orientation deal. So I would suggest checking the good company board on here and start doing your homework.
Only you can best choose whats importaint to you when it comes to bene's and such. -
I appreciate the info very much!
Obviously, you can't believe everything on the internet but there are a lot of scary things about Stevens.
I find it difficult to believe they won't let you use "cruise control or a jake" in your first 12 months.
I can remember coming off Donner with a load of John Deere tractors and I can assure you I was VERY HAPPY to have a jake!
BENEFITS---I am NOT interested in benefits. Only interested in PAY. Stevens is low.
I know the info on here states nothing less than 28 CPM and that was changed because just a few weeks ago it was 30 CPM!
Schneider has an "old timer's program" but don't know anything about it.
Thanks again and be safe! -
Mo,
Unless Stevens has changed their program again you get your JAKE after training and go solo, then after 3 months you get the cruise. I'm glad to hear pay went up if its true.
My info was accurate at the first of the year. -
Recruiter said 26 CPM.
Notice the Dalls BBB gives them an "unsatisfactory" rating...for whatever that's worth.
Think I am going to do the CDL school thing. It will give me a better option for the direction I go.
ALSO...anyone out there who might help with a question for a possible NEWBIE?
I can relocate to either the Dayton, Ohio area or Huntsville, Al. Any company you might recommend for someone just out of CDL school? Suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks much and y'all be safe! -
When I started with them last July it was .26 for 3 months then .28 then 3 months then .27 then 3 more it got to .30
But you had to survive on $350.00 a week for like 10 weeks while your training. But I always ran around 10,000 miles a month when I was solo, so the miles were there if you could run'em. -
pay starts at 26, and after 1 year of solo, you will be at 30 cents per mile, they pay house hold movers miles, so you always drive more than they pay you for. My average length of haul is 920 miles per load. I have 400 to 500 mile loads on occasion, then I get that 2200 mile run. I have not been near Dallas yard for 66 days, and am now headed back to end my grad fleet. communication is important in any job.
I have had no problems running any of the loads they have sent me, and it is forced dispatch, you do not get a choice. Getting home for me is difficult, but I do live in Wyoming, and not along I80, but I am enjoying my time with stevens.
Stevens is in the racket of government handouts for employing underprivilage and welfare adults. Stevens gets paid for ever person they put to work for 3 months, that falls into the governments defined category of a disadvantaged person. This also contributes to the high turn over the company has, and many of the comments here about just how bad they are.
The miles are good, I keep the communication open and accurate, and since I am single and my kids are grown and out on their own, home time is not important to me.
I have never sat for more than 4 hours for a load, and have never sat for more than 12 hours in the infamous meat patch...gives me my 10 hours off.
I have had my problems with some of their policies, and the constant babysitting they do, but that is the only downside so far. -
TLea,
Very correct there on all your points. I am a contractor now in the "Fleece" program. Where we pay high payments for a truck we will never own. But I justify my thinking with the fact when I started I had ZERO experience and for them to give me a truck that will help me build credit is a price I am willing to pay. Yes, I have checked my company credit file and they have posted and that in return has gotten me approved for a truck of my own. I will break my lease and go owner operator and if I stay with Stevens then any and all penalties will be waived. They have done this with three other drivers whom I keep strong contact with and they are making more money now that there payments are cheaper and Stevens still covers any and all expenses up front and you pay them back, and how you do that is up to you and there Alliance manager, A.R. (names not allowed, use your heads for the name. I think I can do abr.)
I am happy, so until I have been done wrong to the point of no return ill stay here. I have yet to find another company where I get to go home any time I choose and I have gotten to know the dispatchers well enough I have now got sort of a route I run. SO far so good.
Morphvenne Thanks this. -
good to here morph. I also am in the contractor division now. good pay, if one is smart, and they have kept me running and running....We shall see about the time off, as I need to be home this weekend, WY, and today I am in California, so should be no problem, but the best laid plans of mice and men, things can go wrong.
Take care morph, and just maybe we will cross paths on the road one of these days.....7734 -
