yeah they told me I would have to go to Co. for school I am ok with that, just skeptical on the process of company cdl training, funds are tight, and it would be easier to go the company route, but not really sure

If funds are really tight, take lots of instant foods with you, such as Ramen Noodles, oatmeal, hot chocolate, instant coffee, beanie-weenies, etc. Micro-wave use is free at hotels, CDL schools, truck stops.

SRT (Southern Refrigerated Transport) has a CDL school in Texarkana and furnishes hotel room and 3 meals a day & a bus ticket to get there.

I have heard of Millis Transfer, and Roehl. Didn't know Roehl offered cdl training. I live in Southeast Kentucky, and 1 school hear in my area is Lake Cumberland CDL thru our community college, but they have a horrible waiting list, do you personally know of any other cdl schools in or around this area? sorry to hit you guys with so many questions

You would have to do some Google searches for the schools in your area. Several drivers posted on here that went to Lake Cumberland and all had positive comments.

I think you need $500 bucks for Roehl and Millis, but on a positive note, Millis drivers make average $50K plus annually.

Southeastern Kentucky, wow, over the years I've done some deliveries all over that area; Harlan, Whitesburg, Middlesboro, Hazard, etc.

Thnx for the correction. It's been a couple years since I worked there.

Overall, it was a positive experience for me. I didn't attend their school though. I went to a private one in Murfreesboro, TN.

Also, check with your local unemployment office to see if there are re-education grants for finding new employment.
As to whether to go the company funded/sponsored vs private/community college, community college is what i would do if i had a choice. That way you are not obligated/contracted to a company for a set period of time to repay your tuition.

I'll check into that thanks for the info, I would like to stay away from company cdl just for the obligations of time, and I also have been reading on here that most companies try to persuade, or even pressure their trained drivers to go lease which in my book not a good idea! What do you think?
