Here we go, another rook who probably had less than 3 months solo and he's griping. Let's see...Stevens took you with no experience, taught you a stable trade, gave you a job and a future, also gave you better than average equipment. Now, what did you do for them?

Its funny how if any 1 has somthing negative to say about Stevens ...some 1 from stevens trys to discredit themby calling them a Rook or some outher derogatory name...I would have to agree with Redfisher!!! if i was asked the same question what did i do for them "stevens" i would have to say A LOT OF FREE STUFF!!!! #1 sat in recivers for hours on end with no dentention pay...#2was asked to run out of route miles but never got payed for them." to avoid a storm " #3 went home 5 times in 12 months and every time was told i had to come back early for some emergency load.#4 was made to go to the yard every 3 months for some bs safety talk and see every department and go through some bs work shop."ie stuck there for 34 hours at least some times more" for free even through i was told to log it on line 4!..#5 Charged to get payed..yes thay charged me to trans flow...#6 have to stand on dock pulp check produce as its loaded on my truck for free.#7made to wait for meat load for 3 days for free.
May be people at stevens like to do lots of free stuff but i dont see it with charging drivers for meat locks load locks ect...
lets not forget stevens policy thay will take as long as is legal to do a Employment verification..witch is like 1 mouth..witch can cost you that money paying job you are trying to get after leaving them..
also dont forget there pay...its not good!!!!! and if you are trying to pay back a student loan i hope and pray you dont have a house famely or a car payment..you may just lose it all
the only way i see stevens as a step up is if your a EX-CON of if you are homeless... -
Well, apparently you didn't do well with Stevens. Many people do.
What in the world causes someone, who seemingly is doing so much better now, to cruise back thru the past employer's thread so he can post something negative?
Speaking with a LOT more experience in this business, as well with Stevens, I can say they have been straight up with me. I earn more than $50,000 per year running solo...more when I instruct.
And doing my job such as pulping isn't something I complain about.
I get home when I want, and have NEVER been charged to transflow.
I guess you're special, eh?
So get a life and tell us or enlightened one...what type of trucking do you do now that you aren't waiting on shippers, receivers, get held up in storms or have to comply with company rules?TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
Exactly correct Emusified. I guess Misfit thinks Stevens makes money when he sits. Misfit, you do know , if Stevens asks you to run Out of route for any reason, even if it is for your safety, your DM can and will get those extra miles added to your trip?
They called and said you had to come back? Just say no, they can't force you to give up your earned TO.
BS safety talk? Do I even need to explain this one?
And you get your money back if meat lock and load locks are returned.
The 30 day wait? To make sure you don't have any issues that turn up 2-3 weeks after you quit.
BTW, I don't work for Stevens, but I started there and because of their training I have one of the best jobs you can get in this industry....Sorry you don't Qualify.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
One quick point every driver pays $2 per week for the transflo service. In OR2 I had a person actually throw a temper tantrum over the fee and refused to sign.
For alliance it is part of the trip delivery fee.
Transflo is a bargin at $2 a week and getting paid in 2 business days over snail mail, overnight, or fax or waiting until one gets to the yard to get paid.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
well the trucking i do now is this i drive for jb hunt on a DCS Account thats "Dedicated Contractor Service" heres my job in a nut shell. Monday drive 404 miles.with 1 to 2 stops..now keep in mind i have to unload my self but i get payed 20$ a stop and 40cpm. takes me about 9 and a half hours back to home. and yes i said HOME!
Tuesday 360 miles 2 to 3 stops..takes about 8 to 9 hours back home...
wednesday 400 miles 4 stops about 10 to 11 hours back HOME..
Thursday same as monday with maybe 1 extra stop so 2 to 3 stops and 400 to 410 miles
friday same as Tuesday with 1 extra stop so that would be 3 stops in about 9 hours..
sat OFF sun OFF!!! so at the end of the week i get about 2000 to 2300 miles depending on what stores i go to and normaly get anywhere from 10 16 stops.
I dont wait on shipers or recivers ..takes me no longer at a stop then a hour and my first 6 months i made 38000$ and thats solo!!!!!
now that being said i too have to do safety talks but we do them over the phone! I too have to do training here and there but the difrence is i GET PAYED BY THE HOUR TO DO SO.!!!!
FYI lol I have a life now...after stevens i am home every night make 55000$ to 65000$ a year get payed 150$ for Holidays whether or not i work them..
THIS IS BUSINESS I am here to make money!!! not work for free!!!!! and the reason i am here telling what happend to me at stevens is to let outhers know what i experienced there....
I can see that you said you are a trainer there..so i can see why you would be up set about some of the things i said due to the fact that some 1 might read my post and go elsewhere ...so case in fact YOU LOSE MONEY.. i also still talk to 1 of my old trainers..Will Bess.... who after being there for 9 years left was making about 400 a week there solo to creet and is now making 900 a week solo..35 cpm "stevens" 44cpm "creet"
also if you knew how to read yr pay check stub you would see YOU ARE BEING CHARGED FOR YR trans flow!!!! it was like 5 cents every 1... 3 years ago... -
yes monkey i ran 100 miles or so out of route to avoid a storm that shut down flag staff..i sent my dm who was jay jones btw a msg on the qc that i was doing so and would like to be payed for it ... the reply i got was "its going to snow every where man so it does not matter!!!"my reply was if i do it and make the delivery on time will you pay me for it?? he said yes so i did... after afterwards he simply told me that he could not .... i complained and talked to safety about to see if thay had a record of the qc msg but some how it fell off it?
and yes yr right about not being able to force you to come back early but its annoying to be asked every day about it!
and yes plese explain why i have to come all the way back to dallas to sit in front Harold for a 3 minute talk that could have be handled over the phone?? just to waist my time??
you may get some of yr money back but i did not get it all back..fyi when i drove for Knight Thay did not charge me for load locks or pad lock or even the tire inflator that gos on the glad hands as long as it was returned with the truck when i left!!! in fact Knight set me up with spare lights, crow bar, push broom,2 load locks 1 pad lock 2 straps, tire gage and tire inflater..
AND DID NOT TAKE 1 MONTH TO DO A EMPLOYMENT VERIFICATION!!!
and i too think i have 1 of the best jobs now Knight was good to me but the 1 i have with jb is better. i am home every night off most week ends work 50 hours a week and make 55000 to 65000 a year..so if thats all i qualify for i will take it!TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -

THE NAME ON THIS IS REPORT A BAD TRUCKING COMPANY HERE!!!!!! and i have worked for 3 difrent 1s Stevens, Knight, and Jb hunt...
and so far stevens treated the worst.. worst pay... worst by not paying me to do my job..ie pulp check.. detention pay layover pay ect
not geting me home but 5 times in a year..
and after pulling a year stent getting some lawyer to call and harrassing me saying i did not compleet my contract when i did.. it was not till i faxed him a copy of a leter stevens sent me asking me for my logs that fell after my year anniversary date did he leve me a lone!!!
I have dun my time with stevens i payed my dues and now i can see how outhers operate by being there both at Knight and JB hunt..are thay perfect??? not by a long shot...were thay good to me yes!!! Thay both put coin in my pocket and food on my table...
the only things positive i can say about stevens is i think there traing was good.. and there t shirts for driver appreciation..
There equipment was so so...62 mph gov trucks no jake or crues control...till thay have trained you..

Yes, JB's DCS accounts are a pretty good gig. Now, by the above statement Stevens was the first step towards that job. Same as me, however I will never Say anything bad about them, because, like I said, They taught me to drive the right way, gave me a job and continued to train me to reinforce good habits. because of this and a perfect driving record I now have a job not quite like yours or anyone's.
Sunday evening I load up and drive to wherever I want to park for the night.
Monday I go to the receiver.
Tuesday morning I unload. Takes about an hour or two.
Wednesday Off
Thursday Off
Friday Off
Saturday Off
Start again Sunday Evening.
I don't get paid mileage, I am paid $330 dollars a day. And if I want to take a "regular" load between Tuesday and Sunday, I get mileage for those at .51 a mile.

Thats cool you feal that way. and congtarz to you on your job its sounds pretty good.....and for the record i dont think i have said that stevens was bad at traing... what i have said is that i dont no that all the bad stuff that i went through was worth it???
I had my cdl b4 going to stevens..i had moved after going to truck driving school where i was from..so i did not have the E.P. over the road.. so i did some looking up on line called stevens talked with the recruiter.. she said i could come in and just go through or1 and that i would not have to go thro the school..
so we set the date.. i went down to buy a plain ticket . i live in oregon so i did not want to ride a buss to dallas so thats on me...
after a fue days i get the call that thay wont take me due to having my cdl..so i call and tell them i allready spend 200$ on the ticket to get there and its non-refumdable?? so thay told me thay would take me as long as i went through school. My contract with them was for 1 year but i would not owe them money as long as i did my 1 year with them.. ok cool i said.. and thats when and how it started with me
The problem i have with stevens was not the training as i said i thought it was prity good.. it was all the outher BS!!!
even if you do 1 realy good thing out of 100 bad things does that make you good? not in my book.. and after i left stevens thay still tryed to jam me up.
took 1 month to get my employment verification done.
called a lawyer on me saying i did not finish my year with them even tho i had!
tryed to keep me from getting my stuff out of there long turm storage when i went back to get it.
now i am sure some 1 will come back saying that i am lying but this is what i went through even after doing my year bid there..
in fact when i went to JB from Knight JB told me that thay would not even try stevens for my first year due to it taking so long for stevens to get back to them but i had enough EX with Knight so it was ok..WHATS THAT TELL YOU???
there lots of places to get yr XP..with all the BS i put up with at stevens..if i had it to do all over agen i would go some where els..
