I was never in the yard for more than a couple days. And to be honest, I don't even recall how I logged it. Been a long time, lol!

Thats kind of the point i am trying to make...UNLESS YOUR TRUCK IS BROKEN YOU SHOULD NOT BE STUCK ON THE YARD..I have never worked for another trucking company that wasted more of my time then stevens..safety i understand...training i understand...but stevens does the same to trainers as thay do to some 1 thats just starting with them...and i have seen a lot of people post back to what i have been through with stevens like telling me that you NEVER GO TO THE YARD FOR FULE!!!!ok i know that so why is that???? cuz you get jamed up on the yard!!!! heres the next question

WHY DOES STEVENS THE GREAT TRAINING COMPANY ROUTE YOU TO THE YARD FOR A FUEL STOP???..and if you are training is that not part of the training to do what the route is telling you to do??? I HAVE NEVER STOPED IN A KNIGHT YARD FOR FUEL AND HAD IT TAKE LONGER THEN 15 MINITS...SAME WITH JB HUNT!! both my trainers droped me off at a motel that stevens used for there students so i COULD CATCH A RIDE ON THE STEVENS SHUTTLE just so thay would not have to go through the yard!!!!! whats that tell you????

I never went through the yard unless it was because:

    A. They routed me because it had been a long time
    B. The load was being routed there
    C. I needed repairs
    D. I was going on time off.

The rest of the time, I didn't bother.

Yhanks for helping me make my point...I tryed to avoid stevens yard like the plague...although i use to like hitting the Knight yards to stay the night for the free showers..and it was always quieter there..

Stevens is the only company I have ever heard of that the yard is a prison. When fuel prices spiked, yes they experimented with using the yard as a fuel stop, and had also put all the truck stops on I20 off limits, due to fuel thefts. It did NOT work. But stevens will not change this aspect of their operation, as that is the way they do it.

Stevens, like other training companies will manage by the lowest common denominator, > the most stupid driver. The one that makes dumb decisions, drives the worst and doesn't take care of equipment, the one that thinks he drives for Stevenson sets the standard by which rules are made. To an experienced driver that does his job by the book it is a huge hurdle but it won't change.

And that's the reason I bought one of these.

Even as a contractor, I got tired of heading in to clear my sheet, only to need something from my truck a few hours later then having to walk the entire yard to find it. Now, I get a nice phone call from Jim asking if I'd like them to work on my truck lol.

How true that is I stand infront of orientation 1 every week explaining what to expect over the next few days etc... And never fails I got 20 questions asking everything I just explained. Tuesday mornings I brief Or2 guys on their testing what will fail you how not to fail what will happen to your test papers what you need to bring with you. Then we get to the or2 backing pad and start testing and someone always asks me a question I made sure to cover throughly my response is what did I say in class? They said I dunno I wasnt listening... I say so I just waisted my breath for 30min. Geez then they wonder why I talk to them like children.

If you stay out of the driver lounge and hussle you can get cleared in 2 to 4 hrs flat. Depending if u have a seasonal workshop. I was usually on and off that yard with in a Half a day. If it was just a pm due in the saftey lane I got it approved to get it fixed on the road ... But if u go in the drivers lounge forget itu get sucked in..

Drivers lounge had nothing to do with it for me..only time i went in there was to use the head..i have not worked for stevens for over 2 years so i dont know whats its like now but i worked Knight and still work for JB Hunt and it did not take me more then 1/2 hour to get off either yard..unless my truck was getting serviced...do you get payed for the workshops now?? or for the 2-4 hours yr there for?? what about that half day you are there?? Have you hit the yard on a friday or a saturday..???
