Your quote is old I know by a few months, but in the event others read it:

Your top nationwide recruiter came to a school in Ohio and I confronted him on how many drivers they hire-his direct quote was over 2000 at the time. I asked him what was wrong-thats about a 112% turnover and seems odd. He replied that other large companies have more. I said I don't want to hear about them-but why do YOU have such a large turnover (in front of about 30 people). He immediately started talking about the equipment you have. Hmmmmm-something wrong here it seems-replacing more than the whole fleet of drivers every year.

If we start confusing folks with facts,

the truth may accidently leak out.

wouldn't want that to happen !!!

I can answer your question. 90% of the drivers Stevens hires have never been OTR before. They only see the driving part of the job and do not know what it is really like, so when they get out there and find out it's not like the movies they have seen, they decide it is not for them.

Newbies. Those who have no CDL or have just gotten their CDL from an outside school. While 112% sounds like they are replacing all the driver's completely, that is not so. It just means they are bringing in more driver's than are employed at any one time.
Say you have 2500 drivers listed. 1000 have been there over 1 year. That leaves 1500 that are new to the company that year. The 112% turnover is the 1700 they hire each year to replace the ones that drop out, fail, or are sent home because they aren't qualified for one reason or another.
There are good reason's to ensure you don't replace every person each year, namely the insurance underwriter. They expect Stevens to maintain a certain level of experienced driver's to keep a certain rating in their underwriting.
Even tho Stevens is self insured, they do have an Insurance underwriter to cover the mass loss cases where high dollar judgements come into play.
You will hear in orientation the statement that 75% of the current fleet is going into their first winter. That statement has been used since the mid 80's, so take it for what you will. Sure there are a lot of the driver's doing their first winter, but not that percentage.

So you did ALL the stuff you needed to do for your 90 day yard visit, and then came back 4 days latter to do it all over again LMAO.
It doesnt matter when you come in and clear, even if its only been 60 days or less, once you do all of that your good for another 90 days.
Man, some of this stuff if so funny you just cant een make it up lol.
