My fiance went to Stevens Transport school in September 2011. Everything went as expected and after his training was over he was assigned a truck. The pay was pretty low. 26 cents a mile. He averaged about 300 to 400 a week after they deducted everything. He was told that alliance would be a way to make more money. In May 2012 he signed a lease paying 570 a week. Keep in mind this was one of the cheapest truck payments available. The first month he made 3000. This was with 4 discounted truck payments. Then came June...his checks average 40 to 50 a week after truck payments and gas and everything else that is taken out. Then in August his checks were in the negative. He finally gave up last week and quit. He started orientation at JB Hunt today with a pay of .39 cents per mile. Praying all goes well!

He was only getting about 2000 miles a week. He is a hard worker and that wasn't his fault.

As has been stated here before, Stevens does not do Lease-Purchase. They do straight up leases. You sign a lease for X number of months and at the end of the lease, you turn the truck back to Stevens. It is really more like renting, but you pay the maint. costs.
You can have it put in your lease the option to purchase the truck at lease end at a specified cost. But not many choose this option.

If you have no check and you're "losin stuff" for a month it's more a reflection on the drivers failure to properly understand and run a successful small business. The majority of the time a company driver with no previous business manager/owner experience will fail in a truck lease. If a major part of your decision to sign a legally binding contract is the pretty new truck parked outside I have some beach front property in South Dakota I'd like to sell ya.

Work smarter, not harder. Being a hard worker has little to do with it. There are things a person needs to understand to run a business properly.
