Yes we do, been here almost 4 years, and hate every minute of it!! If it wasn't for family, we would move.

Bad thing about big companies is pay day, many times payroll don't add everything on your paycheck. You have to go to your dispatcher and payroll. Werner left miles out of my check alot and got the money a week or 2 later.

Here's the 411 on Steven's Transport...great training! but once your training is done...the whole deal goes to hell. You can delay the crap storm by signing up for "Pre-Alliance." While on P-A they will give you good miles and be good to you but when you let them know you don't want to go Alliance, prepare to starve. Actually joining Alliance will again only delay the pain. If you tough it out, you can become a trainer and make ok money, but you have to be a little crazy to be a trainer...or suicidal.

Sorry, Red.
that just isn't true.
I ran on the company side at first. Averaged more than 2600 miles per week the first 6 months.
I joined the Alliance side. I average more than 2900 miles per week.
My first year as a solo driver I made over $42,000.
My last year as a solo driver I made over $54,000.
As a trainer, I make more.
They haven't screwed with my check.
Have there been mistakes? Sure.
But they fix them right away.
There are some of us that make decent money. We like the equipment and the average run is good. (over 1,000 miles)
Are there complaints? You bet. Just read the Aviary thread.
But trucking isn't perfect.
It's brutal at times.
I should know. I've been around it long enough.
As a company driver. As a lease driver. As an Owner Operator and as an owner of a small fleet.
If it doesn't work for you, then move on. There isn't a company out there that's best for everyone. different strokes as the saying goes.Rick_C, FCW9, MtnTideRooster and 4 others Thank this. -
So what exactly is this pre alliance you speak of?
-
Pre Alliance is where a driver 'audits' the Alliance Lease program.
They run under an Alliance DM, but are paid as a company driver. At the end of each month, the DM will point out what they made as a company driver and what they would have made on the lease side.
If they decide there's enough difference, they can then become Alliance operators.
If they don't make more money during this time as a lease operator, they cannot join the Alliance side. -
Oh ok,I thought it was a dedicated run, lol.I

Pretty normal with every company (big)... had to wait few different time 2-3 weeks for a load to show up on a paycheck, just how it is. O/O sometimes wait a month or two before getting paid (net30/60).
Starting out with a company, I'd give it at least 3 weeks before seeing everything that's owed to you, might even have to remind them about what they missed... -
One of my checks was a few days late. Not a big deal payroll forgot to send it is all.I know payroll is probably one of the busiest dept.I don't know how they can keep track of everybody, deductions, insurance ect.
