By the way, for all you new guys coming in. They are going to tell you to MEMORIZE 2 pages in your RED BOOK. 12 and 35. You need 35 to start driving, you need to know your shift speeds. You will need to either do or tell or both page 35 to the examiner at DPS. Do not put this off as you will just piss off the instructors, and you may fail your DPS test. Do yourself a favor and go find the CDL handbook for Texas and study the hell out of it. You will need to pass 5 written tests before you can take the driving test.

No, the Red book is given to you at the school. The cdl handbook is different.

Thats great!. Student teams is something I did not want to experience again.
Thank you for being a good source of information for Stevens.
I often wonder if the Stevens general employees and trainers ever read
    these forums.

I drove for Steven's in 04, actually where I got my CDL. Was not the greatest experience for me, but then this is coming from someone who had never travelled across the country to start CDL training.

As with all experiences there are good and bad. I guess my words of advice are to develope a thick skin as my time in the trucking industry has demonstrated more than once that it has no tolerance for thin skinned easily offended people. Try not to take things personally at Steven's and above all remember this...'You asked them for a job, they did not ask you!'.

Steven's has some good things about them and bad...I made the poor choice of falling in the, 'Nay-sayers'. Develope your own opinion and try not to rely on others and what they say. Follow their policies and you should get along ok.

I hope it works out for you and I look forward to reading about what your experience is like. Safe drive!!!

    luni Thanks this.
