I didn't see this answered yet.

    Also, does anyone know:

-Does Steven's let you "bank" your home time
-Does Steven's let you take your "home time" away from home
-What are Steven's primary operating areas/freight lanes? (no maps on their website)

This is the most informative post I've read in this forum in a really long time.

After more than a couple of years trying to decide whether to get into trucking and after being pre-hired by Schneider, PAM and Prime during that time I always managed to change my mind and not leave NYC.

Now I'm really ready to see other places even if it's only in passing. I decided to try Stevens but the commitment has now grown to 30 MONTHS!

Luckily I have another career to fall back on in case I should throw in the towel before 30 MONTHS.

Man..I really wish you luck getting the job of your dreams. You sound like a really hard worker! Sometimes the rules are made to stifle the best.

BTW, online degrees have increased in scope. You can even get ivy league engineering degrees online nowadays.

    Best of luck buddy!

I still need to do O2 and another 3 weeks with a finishing trainer, then I get my own truck and start making per mile. We are in NE tonight with about 600 miles to go to Ogden. Once we drop this load we hope we will get a load back to the Dallas area so I can go home for a few days. I got to sleep in my own bed last night, but I didn't sleep well as the bed wasn't vibrating. They tried to get us to repower a load going back to Washington, DC and I said NO.

Golden rule of OTR married life. Make sure you always call well ahead before you go home.

Stevens has only ONE Terminal, dallas Texas. Laredo is a drop yard, with a couple of showers and and TV.

As a company driver you are only allowed 5 days off in a row, or you loose the tractor you are assigned. No banking of home time, use it or loose it.

Yes you make take your home time any where you want, but they do not try hard to get you your time off in a location away from home. And you must find a secure yard to leave the trailer and tractor at.

Primary Freight lanes are California to the midwest, and east coast, Tx to everywhere, midwest (meat) to east and west coast, florida to everywhere, you will see all 48 states.

I call every day. I made it just into Utah last night, we have about 800 miles to go on a load that doesn't deliver until 10 pm tomorrow. Had fun yesterday, trainers truck was due to have the fuel filters changed and get lubed, but when we did the oil change in early June someone input the hub reading wrong so they were trying to have him do another oil change. The problem is that since he is a L/O maintenance comes out of his pocket so he was a bit resistant to having unneeded services done. Took three hours to get out of there.

Good. Some drivers when they start out think it will be good fun to sneak in and surprise there wife and all three of them are surprised.
