Fozzy,
Please keep up the posting. It is great and very helpful to hear what the training program at Stevens is like. I wish you nothing but success in the future.

Well, we have our delivery in Puyallup tonight at 10 pm (local), then turn around and come right back to Wallula to pick up our next load going to San Antonio. Somewhere along there I need to get back to the yard. I'll be on the phone to my driver counselor as soon as I get near TX to see if I can be shuffled to another truck headed into the yard or even hop a bus. Gotta get home to see my baby.

How many days they will give you at home?
I went straight through both training before going home. The wife understood because bills were piling up.
Next time I will have atleast three months of savings to keep up with the bills while I retrain with a company.
Congrats for passing the first phase. It is great you don't have to go through the "dumb and dummer training" as I had too.
My rookie driving partner had two accidents and delayed our training by a week.
Good thing no one was hurt.
good luck -
I'm supposed to get 5 days off between. Not sure exactly how that works. It will take me a day and a half to get home, then part of a day to get back(flying).

Fozzy,
If you had it to do all over again, would you still have chosen Stevens to start with? I am researching companies right now in preparation for a second career after retiring from the Army and really love your posts, they are informative. Also, do you know of any Stevens terminals outside of Dallas and Laredo? Specifically, NC. -
nice conspiracy theory. Im sure Fozzy has a good woman that is loyal to him same as for me. I know it's kinda hard to find one of those out there that can survive without being unfaithful. So you're suggesting to give them a heads up so you'll never find out if she's loyal to you??????? you're CRAZY

they will just schedule your O2 for the following week. You have the choice to keep on going and just take your time off at the end. Either way it's really your choice. Seeming how yall will be heading to san antonio, why don't you tell your trainer to swing by Dallas, not that much difference in mileage. Much better route than taking hwy 83 or something like that straight down, alot of curvy 2 lane roads the whole way down to i-10

Heres another opinion for you from a former stevens driver. I certainly recommend Stevens over Swift or JB hunt as your starting company. I say that cuz they have the best training program in trucking and after your done with all the training, you might start out at a lower pay then swift or jb or schneider, but you will have more miles and sit less than them. Mainly cuz stevens is a refrigerated carrier and people always need to eat.

i am also going to maybe go OTR after I reitre. 7 years togo though so. I did drive between 98 and 01 before i went back. Drove with Stevens and Cypress(FB) out of Jacks Fl
