they want your BP at "less than 140/90" or they will offer you a couple of options. One is go see your Dr. and come back another is they will do the work up at # $125.00 plus Meds. This is per the Stevens Dr. today. I was over this twice today and below the third time, I have to back in the morning to see if I am going to get signed off or not.

Hey Bill- I'm curious about this. You say the company doc can do the treatment and prescribe the meds, but it cost $125 + the meds...so does this mean he also signs that you are good to go, no waiting? If you go to your own doctor, are you likewise good to go after he puts you on meds? I have excellent insurance through my wife's employment, so if I need to have anything done I'd prefer to save the money......but NOT if it will delay my training. If there is a delay because you go to your own doc I'd rather just pay the money and have done with it. I'm not worried too much about it, my BP has been pretty good lately. I checked it today and it was 128/80. I have noticed that cutting down on the cokes over the last month has had a positive effect. Maybe if you lay off the caffeine and sugar until after tomorrow you'll be good to go. Whichever way it goes for you, let us know how you make out.
On a side note, I just noticed you're from Lancaster, CA. Small world-that is where I was born and raised!! Graduated HS from AVHS, and was just there two weeks ago visiting. Hav eyou lived there long? I'm going to email you and you can give me your info-hell we might even know each other.
Best of luck!

And try not to get an attractive nurse. Only time I had bp trouble was when the Nurse was originally from my hometown and we were talking and the more she laughed the higher my bp went. Retest the next day with a male nurse, nice and low. I have also noticed if I didn't get enough rest the day before it goes up a bit.

i worked for stevens for almost a year .the best thing is drink some water in the am , DO NOT DRINK NE COFFEE OR NE THING WITH CAFFIENE AND DO NOT SMOKE IF U R A SMOKER. do not do these things the day of your tests and you have a good chance of your bp being in range.
i loved stevens i unfortunatly got the big head and quite right at a year and went to prime inc...or crime inc as i now call it and got hurt and blew out a disk and so far had two surgerys the last one being a fusion of my l4-5 and s-1 . i have been off the road for almost a year and would love to go back to stevens .good luck , be safe and have fun with your life on the road .
Baack Thanks this. -
out of all the forums and posts i have read,i find more positive and less negative about stevens, then any other cdl training company out there

Back at the yard today, I need to go through a recreation of my incident and get signed off by the safety department. Then I can be dispatched out again. I need 6 days so the trainer can sign off honestly. The last guy never put anything on my report card.
