Boogdaddy, earlier in this post it states what chapters to study for the permit. I believe it is the chapters on general knowledge, air brakes, combo vehicles, basic control, and pre-trip inspection. I called Stevens recruiter and she said there would be 5 written test to get my premit. 6 if I wanted to go ahead and get my haz-mat. Also, in the Texas CDL Study guide that I have Chapter 14 - is 16 pages long. Just an FYI...

you will have med axams be 4 u take permit i believe.and u need to study general knowlage,combination and airbrakes. when u take your permit tests the check vision and stuff ,yes.yall dont count your chickens b 4 they hatch,your not hired till dennis approves you.its all a long proscess but the best training i have experianced.i worked for them for a year and would go back if i werent out due to a spinal fusion surgery...
and foz are you finishing up with a finishing trainer or your first trainer ? cause you have more than one day of classes left.

 

oh yea # your hazmat if you dont live in texas i wouldnt get it i took it got an 98 on it and then you have to call fbi or whatever pay 100 for more background checks and finger prints,but you have to retake in your home state !if you have ne other ?'s about ne thing just ask i am on here every day,wishing i was back on the road.good luck ,most of all be safe,respectable keep a good positive attitude and oh yea ....HAVE FUN

 

Well, I think I'm all set to take the permit test today at the DPS. Irish Papa-so do you remember them doing medical testing other than vision at the DPS prior to you taking the exam for permit? I know we will have a physical, drug screen, etc at the company, and I know most people are from out of state, so they would naturally have this done at the company before they excused them to go take the permit exam. But if you take the exam prior to going to class, do they do medical exam at the DPS for your permit? Thanks!

 

irish papa,name some things that dennis looks for,in other words,name some things that would stop him from hiring you,that way anyone reading this forum and thinking about stevens will have a better idea

 

Good Morning gentleman.....I have applied to Stevens Transport back in July right after i finished my CDL school... I was told by the recruiter to call them back in a yr after my 20 over limit ticket was 3 yrs old otherwise my app looked great. so good luck to you

 

The nice ladies at the company called this morning to tell me I'm all good to go. I start Monday. I went to the DPS this afternoon and took and passed my CDL permit as well. I can't wait for Monday to get here except for the fact that I know the first day is ALL paperwork!

 

what sections were on the permit test boog ?

 

Like i said before, i leave on the 5th for stevens, i been worried about the vision part of the dot physical, i just went to the eye doc today and got glasses, she said she thinks ill pass just fine. Just wonderin if any of u guys can give me some info or input. I can deff see better with my glasses now. Do u guys think ill be ok and pass?
