To answer all of your questions, Chapter 14 IS the permit test. The permit test is the only one of the tests which can (possibly) be transfered (in the State of Texas ONLY) to the DPS you will test at when you get to school. All of the other tests must be taken at the same location where you take your driving exam, State Law. There is actually ONE SHEET that they keep track of all your test results on, which explains why you have to do it all at the same testing location. Once you have passed your CDL license at the end of class, driving test and all, you transfer your CDL license back to your home state when you get home next time. While in Texas, your residence is the hotel, that is how you get residency to qualify all of your tests.
Today was day one. 8 solid hours of paperwork, oh joy! Tomorrow, we have to be at school ready for our physicals at 6am. That means I will have to rise at 4am to make it in time! I can't imagine I will be at my best for the physical, but oh well. We had a couple of hours of homework/more paperwork to do tonight. Mostly logging. Tomorrow, we take physicals in the am, then, for those of us that are left, they teach us on the tests we will be taking beginning Weds afternoon at the DPS. Get your rest now, you will need it. The pace is fast and we even will have to be in class until 9pm at least 3 days of the last week. Upon graduation the last Friday evening, you will report to the terminal at 8am the next day, Saturday, to be assigned a trainer and hit the road (or catch a plane to your trainer).
We began class with 29 students, and were down 3 or 4 by days end. One dude just got up and left when he found out tomorrow was a drug test!!! LMAO!
What he was thinking, I have no idea. It is very well publicized that you have to take a pre-employment drug screen upon arriving.
So far, all was as expected, at least by me. I will update tomorrow if I'm fortunate enough to pass my physical!revslev Thanks this. -

Hey all. Back at the yard again. I have one more day to do and the brand new KW T2000 with 8000 miles on it has sprung a leak. It's in the shop, hopefully will be fixed in the morning.
The eye test is just read line 5 or whatever, as long as you can do that it's not a problem. They test you at DPS as well. The physical is easy too, just deon't come up with HBP unless you have meds for it. Don't drink coffee that morning and stay away from the free cereal at the hotel. They check your blodd sugar. I would suggest skipping breakfast. JIC.The Challenger Thanks this. -
hey fozzy do u think the gap in employment thing is goin to stop stevens from lettn me come to school, my recruiter said she beleives im ok with the refrences i gave them and my work history.
