Is it me or is Stevens not so good to work for? My son is now reporting they are screwing him on miles driven and thus his pay!!! By getting all the negatives from him, it seems that they have no ####ing idea what they are doing!!!

    JForce28 Thanks this.

I know at least one of their drivers is a coward. He backed into me at the Loves in Bidwell OH a couple of weeks ago and ran off like a little #####. Guess they really aren't a good company if that's the quality of driver they hire

is it how they actually calculate the miles for a run or do they say it's 500 miles and then pay 450?

some companies pay zip code to zip code and not miles driven

More context is required...is your son experienced? Does your son pickup and delivery on time? Is your son a good driver? Better yet, where the hell is your son?

He's been driving over two years. Lately, the dispachers have been screwing up, causing late pick up or delivery. He has no tickets. And right now he's nearing New Mexico. He has a hard time getting ahold of his DM.

hope not dumb twucker Thanks this.

He should consider firing his dispatcher and get a new one. If thats not an option, he's got enough experience to upgrade to a different company.

I've only called in on an idiot driver maybe twice in my career but I called the safety dept. at Stevens a couple weeks ago.

I was on cruise control in the right lane after dark on I-75. I slowly crept up on a Stevens reefer who was sitting in the left lane going about 60. I watched several cars come up on him slowly, realize he had no intention of moving to the right lane and then quickly pass and go on.

As I got up to him (me in the right lane on CC and him still blocking traffic in the left) I passed him and gave him a couple of quick taps on the horn, meaning to say "hey driver, wake up, get off the phone or whatever, pay attention and move over". I wasn't pissed or anything.

The guy flipped out completely, layed on his horn and started repeatedly flashing lights etc. at me as I passed and moved on. He stayed in the passing lane, never letting off his horn and kept his brights on as I motored up on the highway. He never moved over.

It pissed me off after I thought about it for a minutes so I decided to call it in. Safety tracked him immediately and knew who he was but that's all I know.

Oh man, sounds like Stevens is doing the usual circus act. :icon_jokercolor:

Shorting miles and messing with pay? That’s a rookie level screw up that drivers end up paying for. Your son needs to write down every mile, every load, every stop, otherwise he’s basically working for free.

It’s almost funny how some companies think they can get away with it, but on the road, the proof is in your logs. If they keep dropping the ball, maybe it’s time to hitch up somewhere that actually knows how to run a trucking business and treats drivers right.

He’ll survive it, but keeping his own records is the only way to make sure he gets paid for every mile he hauls.
