Most of the loads to FL go to FL drivers trying to get home. No problem getting freight INTO the state. Getting out?.... well there's always Tropicana!

Have been to Florida Once in three years... and I had to fight to keep that load, park in out of the way places... then a light tropicana load, under 40,000 lbs, and it only went to Atlanta...
-
Been to Fla a couple times. Easy in ... easy out, whats the big deal?
-
At Stevens you can make good money, 30-40K, and they do compensate you for tolls, Lumpers, or you can unload your own load make up a social sucerity number and a name and turn it in as an out of pocket expense, ie: lumper fee and get reimbersed/paid at the going rate for that pitticular stop, because they know how much each place charges for lumpers and just add it to your check each week, Lumper fee's are tax free extra income, also don't turn in more than 4 trips at a time, it is better to get taxed on two $900.00 checks than one $1800.00 check, once you pass the $1000.00 mark tax rate increasses if you have 8 trips compleated turn 4 in at the drop box then mail or fed-ex the other 4 the same day

I will have to talk to my buddy cause he works at Stevens and I thought it was a common practice of there's to run ya low on fuel. Does it sometimes drive you crazy to see all the trucks pass you all the time? When I see one of your trucks I automatically start trying to get over in the left lane. They must sell there old trucks at a pretty good deal cause I spot your old trucks all the time.

Not common practice to run you low on fuel... but drivers do, when they choose to skip fuel stops.
Does not drive me crazy, as speed does not make me money.
Stevens sells the trucks with 400 to 500 thousand miles on them. They turn the fleet over every 3 years.Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -
30-40 is good money? Afraid not. set your goals a little higher.

I have to agree, with Stevens training, a safe record and a couple of years experience $50K+ with home time is available out there.
-
It is, if all he made was 15 k the year before

I know a lot of new drivers do come from min wage situations so $30K with benefits, 401K etc does seem attractive. I don't know anyones personal situation or abilities so wouldn't mock a low paid worker. I just hope that once they have the training and the experience they realize that other opportunities pay better. Some drivers like the Stevens system and make it work, good for them.
BORNtoROAM and TLeaHeart Thank this.
