I could make it work if the hours were there. That's what I made as a hotshot but when I started I was pulling 70 to 80 hour weeks. But for a full size tanker with hazmat? No thanks.

It's slow now, guys. That's all they can guarantee, bet you'd get more hours than that. Going into winter 30 hrs guaranteed might not be bad.

    So, at 30 hours a week, you're looking at $300 - $350 after taxes?

Even at 60 hours a week, that's not a good paycheck for dragging a weenie wagon around in the snow/ice/wind.

Probably start out on night shift as well.

    MJ1657 and Chewy352 Thank this.

Dude, it's an internet forum. Probably 30% of posts in any forum are the result of not reading the entire post and overreacting.

Lots of good paying jobs out there these days not all of them are going to be in a truck. union sheet metal worker and welder by trade and when #### gets slow I go haul tanker. Last job I had hauling tanker was in North Dakota completely on the other side of the country from my house but that's what you got to do this day and age if you think you're going to get something good paying in your area in the Texas or New Mexico area you're wrong. At least not without digging some.

    Chewy352 Thanks this.
