I'm surprised at that because at night they have a strobe that flashes so the camera can see your plate better. They couldn't fire a strobe at your car and you, and I have never seen a front tag lit up. How would they see it at night?
I remember a old tune about running all the lights in Bakersfield, cue that up as you going down the roads with stoplights.
Finally some common sense. Other than driving at a ridiculously slow speed which too is dangerous, in a 75 foot truck. there IS ALWAYS a critical time and space for any light where you must “run the light”. You do what you can, slow, anticipate, get ready but all the planning and preparation and approach modifications can’t eliminate problems 100% of the time unless you’re advocating for stopping at green lights. Safety nazis who live in some bizarro world where they’re perfect every hour of every day
While we all 'run lights' at times some have a different idea of what that means. Certainly running a yellow happens. Entering the intersection after it has turned red is different. OP mentions rain and being concerned about slipping. Drive to conditions comes to mind.
The ticket will be sent to the company, along with a videolink to the actual violation if you were in a company vehicle.
I would've worry about. It happened. I read the comments and most all are correct. You already know what to do to avoid this again. I would dare say its happened to everyone a time or two, if you have driven any length of time. No one is perfect. If we have a perfect driver on here, then I say their lying.
Grumpy, Federal DOT officers don't have the say what the states decide to do. My state says either front or back. AND there is no law.
Red light cameras are a farce. FYI, the “ticket” you get is actually from the camera company for the picture, not law enforcement 90% of the time. Don’t pay it if you get it, let them waste their time and $ threatening to sue you or send you to a collection agency
Well in the case of a Combination Vehicle where else are you going to put the dang thing? Every State I know of has Tag obfuscation laws that render the back out. States like Texas will get you. In the case of straight trucks they are going to follow the state law when it comes to placement. There is NO federal requirement's that I am aware of with respect to Vehicle registration that dictate tag placement.
