Learn how to scam the system so you can compete with the bottom feeders or park it until things improve.

    What’s cheap?

My rough figure is that it costs me a bit over $2.50 to operate a tractor trailer running 100K mikes a year, counting labor and benefits. 70 cents doesn’t even pay the labor.

I’ve been keeping up to date on news regarding the freight market.

One of the reasons for the problem you mentioned is that Commercial Drivers from Mexico and Canada are transporting freight in, then overstaying on their temporary visa and driving in the U.S., doing interstate transportation.

This takes loads from U.S. O/O’s and freight becomes more scarce.

This might be less impactful from Canadian drivers, since the U.S. dollar has less value than a Canadian one, but the Mexico drivers for sure can take cheap freight.

So, in a nutshell, the FMCSA is partly responsible, for not cracking down on these illegal, foreign, interstate drivers stealing freight from you.

Wow, how things have changed. Haven’t been keeping up with the strength of the dollar. No wonder foreigners are buying up the country. It’s a fire sale!!!
