I was at McDonalds in Grande Prairie this week. Working there serving and cooking were probably 15-20 hard working Polynesian, what I can only assume were TFW's. There was a huge line of young fellas ordering food, all of them in there oilfield PPE. How many of those guys in line do you think would be willing to work there? How many of those guys would be willing to clean the rooms in the hotels that they are staying in? How are you going to fill these jobs if you stop the TFW program?
The TransX's, Bison's,H&R's that hire TFW are the McDonalds of the trucking world.
God bless the TFW's I say and yes I will have fries with that thank you!

    By paying a living wage.

I assume that God has indeed blessed the Temporary Foreign Workers since they are Stephen Harper Approved.

Your analogy to fast food could not be more appropriate. Trucking wages and trucking employee turnover are rapidly approaching (or surpassing) fast food.

What do you think is a fair wage to flip hamburgers?

I don't wish to cross Ronny McDonald by suggesting delicious Big Macs may be lacking in nutritional value but one may question why low-paid foreign slaves are required to serve crappy industrial food-like crap to supposedly high-paid oil workers. Alberta has a HUGE problem with obesity (it's the fattest province by far). The Alberta government has a significant budget for gastric bypass surgery. If Ronny McCardiac Arrest can't stay in business without Temporary Foreign Workers then perhaps its time to cut off the supply of Temporary Foreign Workers, bulldoze the Golden Arches and replace them with real restaurants that serve real food served by Canadian citizens earning a wage that actually bears some resemblance to the cost of living in Canada.

Dumping the Temporary Foreign Fast Food Workers is a win-win situation for Canadian workers in Alberta (especially Alberta truck drivers who now resemble Mr. Blobby due to crappy fast food in the food desert of Northern Alberta).

I have no comment while the matter is in under investigation. Let's just say that Mike Duffy did not eat those Filipino Temporary Workers, although he may have senate-expensed 500 Big Macs and 400 Strawberry McShakes at the Charlottetown McDonalds (on an island he is a resident of, by the way). Mike Duffy denies eating $65,000 worth of McFries with money obtained from Gerald Donohue.

I agree, and your burger and fries would cost you a lot more of your tax paid income.

They'll beg for those jobs when Tesla and competitors hit the $25000 price point. Too bad the Philipinos won't give them up.

The problems with TFW's as I see it are

    1) They are taking money out of our economy and putting it into other economies.
    2) They are treated like slaves, they are completely controlled by their bosses and get deported when some ####### fires them for complaining (an probably rightly so - complaining that is).
    3) They are preventing companies from increasing wages, as they should if they are having a problem with recruiting employment.

Other than that, these Filipino folks are hard working, good people and Canada could use some more of them as permanent citizens with equal rights and pay.
