The urban legend that Fort McMurray McDonald's employees make $20/hr turns out not to be true! They make $12/hr like other McDonald's employees! I avoid the fat-bomb industrial garbage that McDonald's passes off as "food" but McDonald's is an excellent example of how the Temporary Foreign Worker Program works. The Minister responsible says he is going to spank McDonald's after displaced Canadians in Victoria who were replaced by Temporary Foreign Workers went to the CBC to complain. Employment prospects in Victoria are always bleak and McDonalds is considered to be a viable career for Victoria residents:

McDonald's accused of favouring foreign workers

In other news, Alberta trucking companies continue to hire droves of Temporary Foreign Workers to drive down trucking wages for Canadian citizens.

It looks like my company is considering going overseas to get drivers. I never thought it would be hard to get drivers that make 60 to 80 grand a year and your home daily..... But we can't find anyone!

Why is it getting so hard to find drivers I wonder.I don't know if its the drivers not wanting to work.Maybe its the insurance companies that are so strict.I rea more and more drivers that cant get hired.

Wait till Russia provokes more with their neighbours (Ukraine, Moldova, Baltic states and Poland) and if NATO fails to do something REAL about it then Canada may experience a massive influx of refugees and therefore TFW program will seem like a walk in the park.

To be fair to Putin, let's weigh the pros and cons of Russian expansionism:

    Cons:

    - Possibility of nuclear Armageddon.

    Pros:

    - McDonald's in Crimea has been shuttered!

The refugees fleeing from Putin would have to compete with the recent wave of Filipino and Punjabi Temporary Foreign Worker truck drivers in Canada. Those are formidable obstacles. Filipinos are always smiling and Canadians can harvest the organs of live Filipinos for $1000. I would like to see a cranky Ukrainian sell their organs for that price. The Punjabi truck drivers can easily wipe out any east European truck drivers by actually wiping them out in truck crashes!

Canadian tax dollars at work to bring foreign replacement drivers to Canada:

Not all temporary foreign workers are here to drive down wages and stop Canadians getting jobs.

I am a truck driver from the UK and have been in a long term relationship with a Canadian (7 years ) and have been trying to emigrate to Canada for many years. It is a very long and expensive process. I am currently applying to trucking companies for employment under the temporary foreign worker programme.

I have to go this way as my partner is a seasonal worker in a very unemployment area and her income is a few dollars short of the minimum income she requires to sponsor me. By using the tfw programme we can proceed with my application to be a permanent resident in Canada.

We don't need you!!!! Don't you understand there wouldn't be a driver shortage if companies raised there pay! All the drivers that still have there class 1 would come back to work but they got out of the game because of piss poor wages. Stay in the uk
