I have always been a great believer in the principle of something is better than nothing. For example, if I had nothing else to do and absolutely no money, I would work for a dollar an hour rather than beg, steal, borrow or go on welfare.

However, I am not completely mad. The next day I would work for two dollars an hour. And the next day for $3 an hour. Right up to the moment I could afford to say, sod off. I won't do it for less than........

When I employed people, there was many times that my employees earned more than I did and a great many times I ended up working for no pay at all.

You can take a long walk off a short bridge if you think importing truck drivers is the key. Didn't you say earlier this year you got under cut by natives and couldn't compete? You of all people should know about how companies that import drivers are only under cutting everyone since they find overseas slaves to work for cheap.

Natives working? I am astounded! None of the ones I have met bother working. Not when they get all the handouts they want from the government. And no taxes. Just because they were here first? Do they not use the roads? The hospitals? The schools? (actually not a lot ) don't waste your energy ranting on about us immigrants who want to be here working and paying taxes etc. Campaign against the way your government puts natives before citizens.

I didn't say importing truck drivers was the key to anything. I was saying that someone like snapdragon would be an asset to the country. There is no shortage of offshore drivers that can't drive and can't count. There's no shortage of CANADIAN drivers that can't drive and can't count. GOOD drivers are NEVER out of work and, if they ever work cheap, it's only for a short while while they prove their value. They climb the ladder quickly IF they have the right attitude. Good drivers make good coin. BTW, I didn't get 'undercut' by the natives. From what I understand, their rate was higher. It was a matter of "if your not native, you can't work here anymore".

I see your point, sort of. The problem I have a hard time getting my head around it is that I know of driving jobs that pay from $30-$50 per hour and the trucks are parked for lack of drivers. Sure the $50 stuff requires experience but even the $30-$35 stuff often doesn't require much experience but still tough to fill the seats. So, if these jobs are going unfilled, what should an employer do? . FWIW, I don't know ANY that have looked at TFW, they typically just park the trucks if they can't find drivers. The point is, there are good paying jobs going unfilled. Question Nate, have you ever had difficulty finding driving work or had to take a low wage because of TFW's?.

TWP yup i was one ,now a proud Canadian citizen and Scotsman as well. did i work for a meat on the seat company ..no i worked for the same as any new start at the company 36cpm (even though i had 26yrs experience).
What really gets me psd is some of the scummy companies that bring drivers over and treat them like crap on their boots.
A good friend had the misfortune to work for one of them and believe me myself and others had to convince him to jack it in or he was going to jail in the USA.
IT was unreal that this so called familly company were no worse than slave owners. ie... you need to follow the truck in front to drop.no we cant give you the delivery details just follow....yeah up to 90mph (GPS dont lie.)..our trucks are limited to 65 mph .LOL....everyone else works 18hr days.
oh just cross back into Canada on the farm road you are empty ???????.
loose leaf logbook ,,,,,just throw them away ,Kansas city yup must be done in a shift from Brandon Mb, ohh bye the way the customer wants a load picked up in kansas to his yard in Fargo.
after he did this trip he spoke to the management off this company and was sacked and escorted off the premises!!.
I went and picked him up from the roadside ,with all his belongings. and yup i went in and created a scene .
did he receive a penny for 3weeks worked NO.,they phoned me to speak to him asking that he doesnt go to the labour board ,,his flight home was the next day.
he gave them two weeks to pay his wages then he complained to the labour board ...nope no logsheets found (company lost them),,,he said ,she said.
only one good thing came out o this is that another driver complained as well.
they lost the right to employ TWPs..
i would name the company BUT i was warned they would sue for slander(phone call).
they advertise weekly for drivers on kijiji .

I will take your silence as a yes . You would work for .30/mile tomorrow. Which is undercutting the going depressed rate of .35-.40 a mile. And you are wondering why people are not fond of the TFW's. It is people such as yourself and the blood suckers that hire desperate pathetic people like you that has driven the wage in the toilet. I'd tell you to find work in retail but you'd be undercutting the high school kids. They need money too cause dad was undercut by a TFW.
Im not sure if I could lay it out any clearer.

Wow, you are the poster boy for why the Canadian Temporary Foreign Worker program should be suspended right now! You obviously know nothing about Canadian history. You are making completely ignorant racist remarks about the aboriginal people of Canada. You are the present-day embodiment of the worst elements of 18th Century British colonialism. The natives of Canada are not citizens? Please keep your mindless arrogance in Britain. You are the would-be immigrant to Canada that should be stopped at the border at gunpoint by the Canadian Border Services Agency.

I was at the AMTA Convention in Banff in 2005. It was disclosed that over 210,000 Canadian Class 1 licence holders had quit driving. That tells me that there is no shortage of good drivers, Just a shortage of good paying driving jobs.
