Everone is entitled to their opinions, but some of them appear to be based on something besides facts.Take a look at the drivershortage website. It`s one word and then dot ca. Trimac`s view of things are dead on and they do not try and pass the industries problems off on to any segment of society. Trucking is what it is.

Is this meant to be a sarcastic remark or is this your personal feeling?
-
I'm getting the feeling that while foreign whites were coming into Canada to work as drivers there wasn't too much of a problem, now that there are more people of colour entering it's becoming a problem for some.
-
No. The problem is recruiting foreign anybody's to compete with me for the same load at $.85 to my dollar. I simply can't compete with that rate.
I don't care if you are white or brown. If the government allows the carriers to pay you less for the same job, that is wrong.Tam_Tam Thanks this. -
It's meant to be purely sarcastic.Jack Sprat Thanks this.

I fully understand and i'm in agreement with what you say, just wanted to be sure it's not a colour issue.

Don´t forget people that you are no natives either. Third or 4th generation maximum in Canada. Your country is built with and by immigrants (your parents and grandparents). The locals smoked pot in tipis while you built your industry. Btw I don`t take sides as I see the problem from both angles. Same processes within EU. It is a neverending topic until there is unequal distribution of wealth in the world. And this is NEVERENDING.
I see people from my country that work hard and want to live well who emigrate to richer countries. Meanwhile our salaries/rates are drawn down by cheaper eastern european countries such as PL,RO,BG etc. drivers/companys. I don`t have a clue how to fix the problem. But protectionism has been tried before. Didn`t work out (USSR). -
The issue of Temporary Foreign Workers is not about race. It is about the use of non-Canadian citizens to replace Canadian truck drivers. It is about corporations being given the power to determine that foreigners can work in Canada at the expense of Canadian citizens. It is about a trucking industry that has asked for and received trucking deregulation that has led to falling wages and decreased public safety. It is about trucking company owners and the Government of Canada conspiring to change the citizenship requirements of Canada to further lower truck drivers wages by bringing truck drivers into Canada who do not have the legal rights of Canadian citizens.
The large number of truck drivers being brought into Canada under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program is unprecedented. I doubt that most truck drivers are even aware of the recent flood of Temporary Foreign Workers. I'm sure it has taken most drivers by surprise. Prior to the current tidal wave of Temporary Foreign Workers, Canadian truck drivers were Canadian citizens of various colours. The new Temporary Foreign truck drivers are also various colours. There is no net visible difference in the profile of truck drivers in Canada under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.Last edited: Apr 11, 2013

What?
In Canada the problem is "fixed" by traditional run-of-the-mill citizenship requirements. Allowing corporations to ignore citizenship requirements to globalize workers across international boundaries harms every country that participates in such obvious breaches of common sense. It is a never-ending downward spiral that results in impoverished truck drivers whose wages fall below the cost of living of the country they are citizens of.
Truck drivers in the UK and western Europe are fleeing to Canada to avoid the influx of poorly-paid truck drivers from eastern Europe and the former Soviet Republics. Truck drivers in Canada are fleeing the influx of truck drivers from the UK and Western Europe. The truck drivers in Canada have no place left to go in a country with a very high cost of living. It is helpless truck drivers around the world who are paying the price of a labour force that is allowed to freely move across international boundaries willy-nilly.Last edited: Apr 11, 2013
