As for myself, I don't pull flatbeds, but I have gone into the Weigh Station even just as a Bobtail thinking this was stupid, but I didn't want to deal with a DOT guy running after me.Bean Jr., jamespmack, x1Heavy and 4 others Thank this. -

If you notice, some states say "all trucks must stop" and some say "all commercial vehicles must stop".
I got into a discussion with a guy that runs a private truck, non-commercial. He normally blows the scales, but I told him he may be ok where it says "CMVs must stop", but could technically be in violation where it says "all trucks must stop".cke, peterbilt_2005 and PoleCrusher Thank this. -

I go in when hooked to a trailer. Bobtail I cruise by. Often they have a bypass lane for empties. Most scales around here only require commercial rigs over 26,000 with some exceptions. The sign at the scale going into Washington by Spokane flashed me in once when using my personal pickup with the enclosed race trailer. I laughed, and rolled right by.
