Yep you will never learn how to drive in ####ty conditions if ur to scared to get out in it. U will never make any money by sitting in the truckstop everytime the snow starts to fall.
But at the same time i love when everybody parks, means less dimbos to deal with sliding all over the road and messing it up for everybody elsemisterG, snowwy, Cattleman84 and 4 others Thank this. -
There's a time & a place to polish your winter driving skillset. IMO Ironed up at 10 pm on a mt pass would be better than 10am on a icy Interstate in Ohio. Slow and easy gets you over the hill. There will be many pit falls in your learning curve. Like setting your trailer brakes. It's not something your going to learn over night. You can't deliver the load if your tits up in a ditch.

I have to say. I am hoping to end up getting a little bit of winter driving when I am still with the trainer. Timing should be about right. As The earliest I'll be in a truck with a trainer will be 11/09/2020 with 240 Hours to put behind me once in the truck. Like @Six9GS trucking will be my first snow driving.

Only time I stop for weather is wind if I'm empty or wind + ice/snow if loaded or empty, I've had a blow over, I've also had my trailer try to pass me. I've done it maybe three or four times, company has only balked once and that was because it screwed up the next days schedule.

Okay, we've covered ice and snow. How about fog?
Out here we get tule fog in the valleys and freezing fog in the mountains. I'm talking about real fog, the kind where you can't even see the white line, let alone stay on your side of it.
Anybody here shut down for fog? I do, when I can't see the road I don't drive on it. The same rule applies to our drivers.BUMBACLADWAR, okiedokie, tinytim and 8 others Thank this.
