You gotta add weight to the flapper caps so they clap at idle. :biggrin_2559:

I see, I never thought about that. The flapping would be annoying. But they sure looked cool wide open going down the interstate.

Yeah they are def cool and they worked for the exact reason we were talking about before, keeping water out. I took mine off when I went to six inch pipes and removed the muffler

With six inch pipes. Will that boost your horsepower? Bet that gives you a signature sound. Remember the signature sound of Pontiacs.

hmm.. six inch rain caps would look cool too - like dinner plates. Maybe put chicken lights on 'em. :)

Chicken lights would be cool. Sounds like the makings of a show truck.

fatter pipes only slows down the exhaust gases. Not desirable. The gas slows down and cools before it has a chance to exit the pipe.

Plenty of opinions on exhaust scavenging theory on the internets.

A single 5" straight pipe is all that is needed for a 15 l engine.

Besides those fat pipes resonate halfway across the dang lot aaaalll niiiiight loooong!

Ooops- on subject, I put cut in half milk jugs over my pipes when I'm home and it might rain.

used to bolt steel buckets to broom handles to put over pipes before it rained. It's not so much about the rain causing rust, it was more because when you get a couple inches of water down there it makes a black soupy mess which will spray all over your cab or trailer when you fire it up.

I bet that would be a mess. I thought they might have designed those with a small drain hole at the bottom. But I guess thats not possible. So if the pipes are to large in diameter, would that affect the performance of the turbo?
