The megas will strand you at their terminal without a second thought. They don't need to go bankrupt, before they screw you.

I don't believe the story, but if it is true I would definantly put the outer dualls on craigslist and use that for fuel money. I would save all the recites and turn them in with the truck when I got back..

until I saw your post; I was telling myself mannnnn it's time for a 34 hour reset. I'm starting to lose my mind OTR....This is clearly a Troll! Glad to see someone else agrees.

Furthermore, two other similar sounding stories on "fakebook" of drivers saying their stranded as well out of Florida. Their fuel cards no longer work but you can send them some money via Paypal or Western Union.....Go figure!

According to one guy's facebook post he worked at Celadon and the fuel card just stop working. When people started asking questions that only a celadon drivers would know he couldn't respond but then another "driver" on FB pops up with the similar story minus the name of the trucking company.....

You could almost walk back to Indiana in 9 days lol. Why do drivers put up with this kind of bs?

Here is a lesson for all drivers. Have an account with some get home money. Put like $1000 in the account and don't touch it. That would get you on a plane to anywhere two minutes after the fuel card gets shut off.

    Specifically from 395.2:
On-duty time means all time from the time a driver begins to work or is required to be in readiness to work until the time the driver is relieved from work and all responsibility for performing work. On-duty time shall include:
    (4) All time in or on a commercial motor vehicle, other than:
    (i) Time spent resting in or on a parked vehicle
(iii) Up to 2 hours riding in the passenger seat of a property-carrying vehicle moving on the highway immediately before or after a period of at least 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper berth

So what that means is one can be off duty and sleep in a day cab. They cannot log sleeper berth, but can get the 10 hour break.

As for the op, yea I have a problem with the story too. He can get a loan for 9 days at a motel, but not a loan for a Greyhound ticket? OK.. sure...
No family to Western Union him some money for a Greyhound ticket? No friends to put a Greyhound ticket on their credit card in his name?
If you are starting to see a common pattern, it's Greyhound is cheap compared to a motel stay for 9 days.
Also, hauling Nascar trailers. That alone is a laugh.

    spyder7723 and not4hire Thank this.

Heck, don't even need that much. Figure out how much you want to keep from your truck and how much it will cost to mail it home from a UPS store (or the like), add in Greyhound ticket and a couple hundred for whatever. Heck, now days you don't even need to keep the cash on you. Put it in a saving account in your bank, and if needed simply transfer from the saving to your credit card. With our bank, funds are available immediately (my wife has proven this by doing a transfer while in line to check out)
Of course Id's still keep $100 tucked away somewhere in the truck.
