I was just reading the account by Dakota and his difficulties with Maverick and flatbeds generally.

It seems many drivers just seem to have bad luck and some have good luck. I do not consider myself much better than any other driver, just luckier.

And, it is quite fun to sit in the dummy seat when the conditions are right: nighttime, no traffic, straight four lane, clear, calm weather, etc.

    It will wake you up.

When you have time for only a short power nap, drink coffee first. Then lay your head and arms on the steering wheel. When your arms lose circulation you will wake up ready to go.

I lay over the steering wheel S of Lubbock TX along the RR tracks. The train came by in the same direction and I pulled the steering wheel out of that ol truck. Darn thing would not stop.:biggrin_2559:

I usually carry beef jerky for a stay-alert snack. A little goes a long way, and it doesn't make me fat as fast as doritos do. Lots of salt, though.

gas hauler, make sure you grind off the barbs before you use the treble hook, you want to be able to get the hooks out without going to the hospital.:biggrin_2556:

Keep a nice big fat stinking cigar lit at all times. It keeps away the bugs. It might also keep away the lizards??????:biggrin_2559:

I know it isn't healthy to eat the junk stuff, but I guess anything crunchy will help me stay awake, along with a jolt of Caffine. It's the 100% natural replacement for Sleep!!!:biggrin_25518:
