Crawdads, thousands of them, moving across a levee road in the rice fields We were moving harvesters late one night and I guess the crawdads were moving from one field to another. The entire road was covered with them for about a tenth of a mile. The farmer we were working for said he'd seen it before but it was unusual.
Everybody bailed out and started filling buckets, lunch boxes, anything they could find, with crawdads.
I filled up an igloo cooler, took them home, boiled them up with Zatarains and we dined Cajun style that night.

I didn’t do this but a friend did back in the day.

A decapitated body was the result of a motorcycle accident he couldn’t stop in time so ended up running over the head of the victim.
His rig was impounded for evidence for almost a month.

I forget exactly what they were called, some kind of cricket, but I ran into them in Nevada and they had the road covered for miles. It looked like the pavement was moving. these things were near an inch around and looked like short fat grasshoppers. They covered the under side of truck and trailer with meat and guts, I had no choice but to have the underside washed after driving through that mess.
I have seen and run over trantulas almost as thick, but only for a 1/4 mile or so.

    Locust, like the Biblical plague.

I had a Mormon friend who was an "out of the box" thinker,
like myself, and his Idea was to get a street sweeper,
and Collect them by the ton, and have them freeze dried,
and cut into 16 ounce bricks, for a high-protein source food.
Guess you could chocolate dip them singly, also.
Export them to starving 3rd world countries.
    (Not on my menu.)

Strangest thing I hit, a tiny turtle, Tried to avoid it. It flew up under my Truck, took out a small air line. Had to do a roadside repair. It was strange.
