"those snap binders can be dangerous if you are in a big hurry and not paying attention"
In Canada it is required that all snap binders be locked in place.
this can be done with wire, chain or other devices such as:

I have home-made my own binder locks out of 3/16X3/4 aluminum strips and small hitch pins from
a farm supply store. I bent the strips into a U shape over a 3/4" pipe and drilled a 1/4" hole through
both ends for the pin. (hint: use a piece of 1X4 lumber between the ends and drill through to line up the holes)
I store them right on the binders when not in use.
when I was flat/step decking I had:
4 5/16X25 gr70 chains
10 3/8X16' gr70 chains (two hooks)
6 3/8 X6" gr70 chains (one hook)to use on machines or extensions
8 3/8-7/16 ratchet binders
8 5/16-3/8 ratchet binders
12 snap binders with locks
20 4" straps
8 2"straps with winches
6 each 2ton,4ton,and 8ton shackles
24 steel chain corners
48 nylon strap corners
rubber padding
cut 4" straps for padding
20 plastic corner protectors for my tarps (cut from oil jugs)
150 21" tarp straps
tarp set
