There are many varieties of strep throat. It's caused by the streptococcal bacteria. It's not your ordinary sore throat caused by a viral infection. So you are really not sure what you have yet until they test you. Either way like they all said you need to see a doctor asap. They have instant test strips and might do the old throat culture thing. Strep throat will cause you to have a high fever over 101 degrees is one reason it's dangerous. It can dehydrate you quickly. Look for white spots on the back of your throat. That's another sign.

It's highly contagious too. Just breathing the same air next to someone and they'll get it. You need strong antibiotics. It will shorten the contagious part down to 24 hours instead of the normal 2-3 weeks. The best $100 you ever spent.

Find you a place to bed down and get some rest after the doctor visit. You can google the "town, state, walk in clinic" and find what is around you. You really need an emergency room and I would cover my mouth and nose with at least some kind of cloth before going in there. Once in there they will give you a mask.

    Get well soon!

I'm 58, nearly, and have never had it.

    How do you get it?

I ended up getting it a couple months ago. I tried to just keep on driving and ignore it, but after 3 days I was in serious trouble. I had to go to an urgent care doctor and get all kinds of meds, and then I spent 3 more days lying in the truck just waiting for the sweet release of death.

Strep throat and other bacterial infections are no joke. Get to a doctor - your life could literally depend on it.
