    I honestly don’t know..

I’ve got a 2970n2 and a straight 4 pill X-Force sitting at the house collecting dust...I don’t know if anyone is really shooting skip anymore or not ? I’ve been out of the game a long time.

I just got the itch for something different.

Same here. I'll know Monday when I do microphone testing and see how everything works together.

Seems like channel 28 has some skip yesterday and today. Here where I live there is up and down hills/roads that go up and down. I wonder if 26.915 is still used.

    Tall Mike Thanks this.

It will sound great. You might need to play with the adjustment.
The Mic he recommended will give the best results without having to make adjustments.
Technically the microphone is part of the tune. He sets the radio up for 30 millivolts Peak to Peak with the mic gain wide open with a certain frequency Roll off using the ranger SRA 198. Too little voltage won't fully modulate the carrier and too much voltage might swamp the AMC circuit and if it's a different microphone the frequency response will probably be drastically different which will alter the tune and also the performance.
Since the Palomar sl41 is no longer available I think the only thing he really recommends is the cheap Ranger SRA 198. Different microphones require a different tune for Peak Performance.

Not for sure on 26.915 I don’t even know if the Super Bowl is still active.

Since your radio has been adjusted to 100% modulation, don’t run the mic setting too high. I have a d104m6b that I use occasionally and I run it half way between the 1 & 2 position. I did modify my mic by changing the mic cartridge to an electret element. So that may make a difference too. Plus adjusting the AMC using the mic like Rabbi mentioned.

Turn the mic gain to 12 o'clock with the Palomar sl41. And turn the talk back down. I'm sure you had serious squealing problems with the mic gain wide open and the Palomar sl41. Don't give up on it just yet.
There's a variable potentiometer for output voltage and if you set it to three thousand ohms, I don't think you'll have to turn the mic gain down on the radio.
