I've also heard the stories of those weather radios going off in the middle of the night while the driver was sleeping. Not good unless it was a real severe storm moving in.

As loud as the warning sound is, I don't know if it matters if your a new driver or not. Ha. Im sure it would be worse for a new driver.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

1) I don't leave the radio on when I'm sleeping
2) The alert feature can be turned off in the menu
3) Power is easily disconnected on my setup
