Maybe they didn't consider it because you dropped the ball from the beginning by not simply weighing your load.

You sound like a child complaining because your parents didn't bail you out, and you have no justification for being pissed at anyone but yourself.

That would be my suggestion at this point, especially since he picked up from a shipper that is pretty much uncontactable except maybe by carrier pigeons.

    Yes.
I guess the weigh station will just let you chuck some lumber off in the lot and be on your way.

    Great suggestion.

lol, heard of bull haulers letting the cattle out at a scale house and never seen it myself, but the sight would be funny. Just like I heard that in Montana the reason why they build just the small porta potty looking scale houses is because drivers that they made mad came back later and ran them down....but that was in the good old days of trucking and I didn't get in til after that man how we really missed the fun....

Me too, sunshine! I've got a one ton flat sitting in the driveway. Believe me, I'd help the kid out.

when I was dispatching in CA a guy got stopped at the scales for o.weight. "Cant leave til you off load some weight" . Obviously he didnt scale. Belittling him or chewing him out wouldnt of helped me any. I needed a solution not to piont fingers.I called one of our customers who is also a friend, asked him to rent me f/lift for a few, sent antoher truck w. an empty and f/lift .
We figured out all the rest later on, but priority was to get truck and driver moving.
We took off some of the weight and away we went. Its not that hard. Someone needs to make a decision, or call someone that can make it for them

I'm with 281ric, get in touch with your terminal manager or safety dept. Dispatch is going to have to go to the TM or assistant TM to get the ok to do something anyway. Chances are you and dispatch are going to get chewed out, but that's part of the learning experience. Dispatch had all day to do something for you. It's up to you do you focus on the solution, or the problem. Whatever you focus on increases. Dispatch is door matting you and you are going along with it. Move up the ladder to someone who has the authority to get the problem resolved.

LaBubba, 281ric and bullhaulerswife Thank this.

But that would cause seat warmers in the office to have to interrupt their Facebook and Fantasy football time, and we certainly can't have that.

Unless one has that magical paper permit from the state that renders the totally dangerous overweight truck completely safe and harmless. :biggrin_25511:

Being held at the scale for being overweight is not the same as OOS.

assuming that some of this load contains ten foot or shorter boards, unload enough to scale legal. go back to the back lot, dolly down and unhook. load the boards that you off loaded onto your truck like a straight truck and secure the load. take this straight truck load to the closest truck stop and ask the manager where you may store it for about an hour. return to scales, hook to trailer, scale out and go get your lumber at the truck stop. to heck with boyd bros., they already gave up their decision making rights.
