Alright, so here's chance two of you all want to give me a hard time. But let's save the ya-ya about being more prepared in the future. An attempt to be prepared was made, but left in my personal vehicle.
Right now I'm stuck in a dock of my receiver. It's downhill (so I need to climb uphill.) and covered in a sheet of ice that's roughly an inch thick. I'll upload pictures when I can.
Its my own fault for leaving stuff in my personal vehicle, though at this point rock salt and kitty litter may be of little use anyways.
Ive tried the following and am currently awaiting a tow truck (which I was given an eta of hours from now...)
- peed on the ice, even had others try too. (I've got the balls to ask...)
- boiling water
- sledge hammer + cardboard boxes (broke up the ice in front of the wheels so the cardboard would be less likely to just shoot out the back.)
- makeshift chains from bungee cords.
I don't have access to a grocery store or pet store and I've no chains (...sni's facility in Atlanta was out when I asked.)... That means kitty litter, rock salt and alcohol are all out. Not even a package store nearby as cheap 80 proof vodka works okay in a pinch.
The good news? The dock I'm in, is located at a mall. I'm about to go inside to warm up some and browse for ideas.
So here's my charge to you experienced drivers... How the hell do I get outta here?!
Stuck in a dock...

Theres a few places I can worm over to for extra traction, but getting to those places is the problem.hunted Thanks this. -
I know this is going to sound dumb, but if you have a couple of gallons of windshield washer fluid with you dump a bottle over the top of each tire, let it drizzle down over the tire, wait about 5 minutes and give it a shot trying not to spin your tires.
Don't ask me how it works, but it has gotten us out of a jam more than once.Minia, Vilhiem and DoneYourWay Thank this. -
Kitty litter, sand, cedar pet bedding, aquarium rock. Pet store in the mall?
Vilhiem Thanks this. -

I may have some in the back where the chains are usually stored, so I'll try that Kansas. (Unlabelled beaten up bottle with blue liquid...can't think of any other liquids that are blue that a rig carries.)
Im walking around the mall now but a few locals told me the only pet store is too far to walk to. The roads are semi-cleared at best, but the parking lots and side walks not so much. -
Sorry...but that ain't happening. I was told a few hours with no exact time. We all know what "a few hours" can mean in this business.
Not to mention it's supposed to get worse tonight. Since I'm unprepared for worse, or even this, hoping the truck came before it does doesn't seem wise. -
If you are empty flag down a guy with a 4 wheel drive pickup and offer him 20 bucks to pull you out, you would be surprised how many would jump at the chance to show their buddies how their big bad pickup pulled out a semi.
Also, if you are at a mall get ahold of maintenance, they may have a snowplow or tractor sitting around. -
If push comes to shove I may try that, but all I've seen are minivans and sedans. I already alerted mall security and asked them that, they said they'd alert any snowplough drivers then can find/see, but their best option was a golf cart.
Im also not empty, lightweight but not empty. (Under 7k in the box, doubting I even have 4k.)
Oh believe me, I took responsibility for my actions with my dispatcher but I made sure to emphasize that I wasn't the first and that it needed to be done.
