I just wanted to say here, that I was extremely nervous when I first started out with my trainer. My hands would be physically shaking every time I was about to drive, or even coming to a fuel stop and pulling the spring brakes. I used to have minor panic attacks just backing into a spot, and my trainer said he's had some people that were a little nervous but never to the point that they were physically shaking. At first I would use tobacco to help calm my nerves and that worked for awhile, until I finally realized I could do this on my own without needing it. It just takes time, and practice. With practice your confidence does end up building, as you have finally figured out.
When I was in CDL school I was terrified of the truck, to the point that I would panic when it would move in 2nd gear even though I wasn't pressing the accelerator as I would go around Roadmaster's obstacle course. Now I'm a hundred times better than I was, and I still get a little anxious when backing.. but not nearly to the point that I did. It's good to be a little anxious, it means you're more careful about what you end up doing. I've learned that when you're driving an 18 wheeler, you can never be cautious enough but it would be a mistake to be overly confident about anything.

I passed my CDL road test yesterday!!! I also had no errors. I am starting my first job with Pepi becaue it is local. I will continue to be cautious and not over confident. I look forward to the continued learning with commercial driving along the way. I feel great tho! Thanks you to all the members for their advice and support!

Danacrogers Thanks this. -
Word! Superpet139 I'm super relieved about it. My instructors said I was bouncing off the walls when I got out the truck LOL. They told me to take an easy and drive safe to the DMV LOL. It was great man! Thanks

Oh yeah. It's pepsi. Gotta pay my dues somewhere, the big plus is that its local and mon-fri. I'm trying to eventually start a family and wanna be home.

I was under the impression that a pepsi or coke gig was pretty good, or definitely not the worst you could do.
Sure you have to move the product by hand, but that is like a paid gym membership!
And especially the M-F deal. Many drool over that position.
MikeeeeDanacrogers Thanks this. -
Your exactly right! It is a good workout! And its a good job, Before trucking school I worked security for a couple years and had about a year and a half of not working after that, so I think I lost sight of what working is really about. I do like the job and should have my own truck and route after about 4weeks.
superpet39 and Pmracing Thank this. -
Don't worry. It's normal to be nervous. You're in a large vehicle with major responsibility.
When I first started I would literally shake. It was a mix of nervous with a rush of excitement. It was nuts. I wish I still felt like that while drivingDanacrogers Thanks this.
