When I was in a carriers orientation about 5 years ago there was a lady in the orientation who said she had about $50,000 in school loans for something she never ended up doing ..... I have met so many people like that. I was at the bank not to long ago and the guy I was working with said he had degrees in both economics and finance and he thought he wasted a lot of $ getting those degrees. I thought that was odd since he had a job as a vice president at a bank. He told me almost everyone at banks now days are called vice presidents. He thought he would be in an ivory tower on wall street or in San Francisco directing millions and billions , instead he says he's just a glorified bank teller in a suit and tie. I don't feel to bad now not even being a high school graduate.

I'm having a total fun vacation out of trucking. For me at my age and with my balance sheet it's all about life style not money anymore. Have found a fantastic company that gives me anything I want and never bothers me. It's all about your frame of mind. Trucking is not worth getting bent out of shape about , so I never do.

Plus half your paycheck doesn't go to the truck drivers that drive Snap on , Mac and matco trucks. Mac and snap on all the way for this long time ago mechanic. Yes trucking REALLY IS A LOT easier than wrenching. At least for me it is. Money wise I made more as a mechanic but I'm a lot happier vacationing in this truck that working for a living.

Now át 53 I have tried so many different careers as a entrepreneur that even if I took my shoes off I couldn't ad them all up.

Trucking seems to be the only thing I keep looking at.

And a lot of that has to do with understanding the physical limitations I am approaching as a older man who has beat up his body from too many years of manual labor.

Up here in Michigan there is endless small trucking companies looking for drivers.

I need to get my butt a cdl one of these days

Chinatown you should be a Headhunter or a job placement person for the trucking industry.

But I am sure you are done with working anymore.

I tell you what I just spent 6 months up in this hellhole Michigan , between the nonstop gloomy weather and the absolute junk roads ! I just can't see me living here for more than what it takes me to get hired by a decent trainer company for a year

Yea those trucks look pretty nice. Typical Hollander nice stuff around here.

Doubt they want the newbie in their new truck.

Really don't see myself living anywhere but SW Florida again.

I just came up here to Michigan to get a Michigan license and address and do some work on a buddies house.

After going thru a mild winter here I know why I moved from here 33 years ago.

Do that or since you're homeless and broke, just take whichever company will get you started first. Put in some applictions and take the first offer; it's only for a year or less, then you can move on to something else.
    Prime
    CRST
    Swift
Those 3 probably the fastest to get started. Apply to all of them and get started. All 3 provide lodging and meals.

Yea I dig my chunk of property with a cheap little house on it a mile from the beach.

The more I hang out in St Pete I tend to gravitate to wanting to move there some day because of how much cleaner the water is.
Plus a younger crowd and not so impacted by the tourist as Naples is getting to have.
The farms dumping all the crap in the water in the Caloosahatcheee river and than the corp of engineers constantly releasing it into the Gulf is just ruining the water quality in the area.
