It is amazing the way every little trucking company here in Grand Rapids is looking to hire.

 

The farms are destroying the eco system in south Florida; you're right about that.
The sugar cane lobbyists pretty much call the shots in south Florida. Don't know if that affects the area you live in though.

 

Roehl has a good deal for those that can pass the hair follicle test.

 

Unless its changed you get a loan for the cost of the school and the loan goes directly to the school.Thats how it was with me and the monthly payments were very reasonable. If you want a car that's on you. The school I attended had a company car the students could use.

 

Yea but it looks like pretty much all the trainer companies are going that route.

No big deal if you can put down the heroin needle and meth pipe and lay off the pot brownies for 90 days.

Student loans are stupid. I can't tell you how many people I know that are buried with them. The vast majority also either did not finish school or did but are not using their degree. Getting a loan to get a CDL is even dumber. It isn't rocket science and saving up for a little while to pay as you go isn't that hard.

I know most companies won't hire you without some sort of official training but when I got my CDL I read the book in one night, and took and passed all the written tests the next morning. I had never driven a semi in my life and I rented one. I drove it for about 30 minutes before taking my test and I got a ninety something on the driving test. It isn't hard. I am not saying being a trucker is easy, I am saying getting the license is. Anyway I bought my own truck and trailer and have my own authority. I don't haul much for hire these days I mainly haul my own equipment around to my jobsites and stay busy with that. My point is don't go into debt to get it.

 

Your loan goes directly to the school. You do not get a check. You cannot ask for more than what the school is going to charge for you.

One of the worst things about student loans. Default on that and the Government will collect. Even if you died your estate will still be charged for the remaining amount due plus interest. Everything you have coming such as social security, refunds etc will all be garnished to repay same. This is not freedom until it's paid for in full. Now paying 5000 dollars versus making say 6 times that your first year should you not be fired for a preventable etc is a good investment in your future.

Why would you need a car? That tractor is your home on the range so they say.

Just do an experiment .... Google truck driving jobs. 10 million hits later in seconds. 10 minutes later .... Your phone is ringing of the hook with trucking companies saying just get here and it won't cost you a thing to let us help you get your cdl. You can pay us back as you haul our freight for us. I think it's a pretty cool deal myself , but I'm older and well read and had parents that lived through war and the depression of the 1930's. So maybe I'm not "educated" by Bernie and the Marxists.

Apparently now days liberal snowflakes believe that if anyone in America has a few dollars more than you that is unfair and someone else must take that money away from them and give it to you. And if someone says something that hurts your feelings that person must get sent to re education camp.
