It depends on the company. To get backhauls my company would take anything near Atlanta. Now sometimes it was a Drop yard, which was fine. A place where trucks are meant to go. But many times it was a local delivery, meant for box vans and day cabs, not sleepers. You can't believe the places I went. They don't care. It's just an address to them.

I have been to places that today many years later still make me cringe. Still it is part of the job. You either do it correctly or you don't. Keep doing it incorrectly and you won't be doing it for much longer.

You know that if you called the company and said you think it's unsafe to try and unload in here it wouldn't be long before they told you we will find someone that can. The problem is that every day is different, a trailer making it impossible one day not there the next, a car parked wrong, etc. You know this.

Yes there is always the excuse "We get trucks in here all the time" .
Which I've had to follow up with short and sweet "Except this one".Trucking in Tennessee Thanks this. -
I have. In fact this was covered in a thread just a few weeks ago. It's part of being a professional. You know what you can do and what you can not do. Still does not change the fact you have to watch out and not make contact. Respect that size and weight!Steele123 Thanks this.

You telling me in all your years you have never bumped anything?
-
Do you have gout? Right foot hurting below the ankle is an indication of gout.
-
No, it's an indication of taking two hours spent in stop and go traffic trying to get across Atlanta. Never had this problem until that day. It's the muscle or tendon below the ankle. With gout the whole foot would be swollen.

OK, take care and get an automatic truck.Trucking in Tennessee Thanks this.
